There are several:
- First, the greatest movie of all time: The Empire Strikes Back. I love A New Hope (which to you non-geeks would be Star Wars), but ESB is just all around better. Vader is more awesome, Yoda rules, the lightsaber fight actually has emotion in it (which unfortunately can't be said of the pretty but ultimately pointless ones in the prequels), and the good guys ... lost.
- Second, Aliens. I acknowledge that the first Alien movie was excellent for what it was, but I'm not a horror fan and the Colonial Marines in Cameron's excellent follow-up were just like guys who I served with in the Army. "We're on an express elevator to hell! Goin' down!" Awesome, awesome movie.
- Third, I'd say that Superman II is better than the first one, even though the final fight scene wasn't all that great. Still, Chris Reeve remains my iconic mental image of Kal-El and nothing is cooler than Terrence Stamp's "KNEEL BEFORE ME, SON OF JOR-EL!"
