Writer's Block: Mother Monster returns

In three words, how would you describe Lady Gaga?

fearless, fun, and creative...

off the top of my head...that's what i think.
I know some people are 'sick of her' because she's all over the radio, but I love that she takes risks...and isn't afraid to be "weird" or "different"...she is just so unique! ~

Salmon medium-rare, sauce mousseline

This is today's perfect meal. Tomorrow it could be something else. But this looks good to me today.

as long as I don't have to do any of the work, and it isn't lamb or veal, has lots of veggies and isn't greasy,  and I don't have to clean up after (for once), I would say it's all good. especially if it comes with an excellently paired, dark, ice cold beer.

Writer's Block: It's always summer

If you could only live in one season for the rest of your life, which would you choose, and why?

Summer. But only if it's actually going to be sunny, and not constantly rainy and cloudy like we've been having lately. I need sun in my life. The sun makes me feel energized, motivated and happy - things that I don't usually feel. Plus, the outfits are cuter. :) I've always loved bright colors, and they just don't look right in the winter, no matter how heavy the material.

Writer's Block: See you on the dark side

If you won a free trip to the moon, would you go? Why or why not?

I'm undecided. First, how long would it be for? Second, is it a round trip or one-way? :P Third, would I pass the training required of me to go through with the flight? (Most likely not.) As awesome as this opportunity sounds, I'd miss my family too much (lately I hate being separated from anyone for a long length of time), and I think I'd actually be okay with not going because the opportunity sounds so farfetched and crazy that I would never even expect an offer like that - so turning it down wouldn't be a big deal because it's so unexpected. I'm pretty sure that last sentence didn't make sense. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the offer is too good to be true, but even if it was true, I wouldn't be upset by turning it down because they are pretty rare to come by.
Too Tired

Writer's Block: Bon appétit!

What is your idea of the perfect meal, including appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink?

A main course with something vaguely pasta/chicken/garlic-y (a good chicken dish, or pasta with a homemade sauce, for instance - maybe a damn good grilled cheese, like one with lots of fresh basil leaves in it?), a fruit smoothie or rootbeer float for drink/desert, and an appetizer/side dish of french fries (or pretzels, really). This is what I get at Island's, actually. Which explains why it's my favorite restaurant.

It's the beginning of the end, according to Harold Camping. How will you spend what could be your last day on Earth?

Writer's Block: Tobacco road

Would you want your city to outlaw smoking on public streets? Why or why not?

If I had my way, I'd find a way to shut down all tobacco companies and farmers because smoking tobacco is just not good and doesn't lead to good things down the road. I hate inhaling it through my mom... I really hope one day I don't come down with cancer! I'd find a way for everyone to quit safely and successfully, as well as get these people help for some issues that may have caused them to start smoking in the first place.

However, the world is Danaland, shutting down tobacco companies and farmers would probably not be good for the economy (but I have no idea), a good amount of people do not want to quit smoking for lots of reasons and who am I to force them, and as much as this pains me to admit, there are people who may not want to sacrifice the quality of their life in order to be healthy and live longer. It's their choice, not mine.

So, do I want my city to outlaw smoking on public streets. Ideally, yes. Realistically, no - there are a lot of restaurants (if not all) in NYC that does not allow you to smoke. While I personally support that, it doesn't leave a lot of room or freedom for smokers to do their thing. I hate smoke, but smokers gotta smoke. And if we ban them from smoking on the streets, where do they go? I'd rather have people smoke on the streets than in the car where I may be, for example.
ONOZ OMG

Writer's Block: Mother Monster returns

In three words, how would you describe Lady Gaga?

I think the obvious answer would be "Born This Way." ;P Or possibly "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich."

But for some modicum of originality: "Hot, crazy Monster." I honestly cannot come up with one singular word that does a better job of (somewhat) positively portraying "psycho bitch ♥" than Monster, capitalized, though you probably have to be a fan to fully get it.

Or, possibly: "Best goddamn troll."

Kirjoituskyvyttömyys: Beep, Bop, Boop

What was the first video or computer game you ever played? Did you love it or hate it, and why?

That was it. Boulder Dash. My friend had a Commodore 64, and I sometimes played this at her home. I loved it, I really did. We didn't have any kind of computer or gaming device, and I didn't really want one, but I loved this game. It was fun and challenging in its simplicity, and it was new. This happened when I was twelve, 1987. Much later, probably in 1997, I remembered the game again, and loaded it on our computer. Payed it for a long while too. Now I play it online sometimes.

Writer's Block: Bon appétit!

What is your idea of the perfect meal, including appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink?

Ranging daily depending on my mood, but of course.

Perfectly chilled seafood, great company, some wine, this salad that I order in this one place my husband takes me to, followed by a bowl of soup that I had last restaurant week which I have been meaning to recreate a version of, a shot of something beside my cappuccino to sip and a lil more of that great company to go.

Writer's Block: Collect 'em all

Do you collect anything? If so, what do you collect, and what made you start your collection?

I collect vintage Teddy Bears 1920s - 1950, mostly British made bears but also American, Austrian, French and German. Oddly enough, I don't rate anything by Steiff that highly,  I don't have any in my collection as a result. I seem to like circa 1930s bears the most of all, the vast majority of my bears are from the 1930s. By the late 50s well made soulful bears are thin on the ground.

Well, I used to like having soft toys and had many cheap modern ones in my early 20s, I hadn't really seen vintage bears, but one day I happened upon an old vintage bear at a bootsale (flea market) and fell in love. I have been collecting vintage bears ever since. Past few years I haven't been able to add many bears to my hug, sadly, but I am just as keen as ever. I have 45 Vintage bears.

Writer's Block: Bon appétit!

What is your idea of the perfect meal, including appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink?

There's a place here that makes some wonderful broiled oysters (and I don't particularly like oysters) with garlic, romano, gouda, bacon and parmasan. So we'll start with those.

Let's freshen the palate with a caesar salad, with a creamy caesar dressing, the croutons from Outback, some bacon and fresh grated parmasan cheese

Segue into the perfectly grilled (medium rare) ribeye steak, some baked mac and cheese, and the same rolls like Texas Roadhouse makes.

Dessert would have to be a plain, New York-style cheese cake.

The drink is fresh-brewed Lousianne tea, with lemon and Sweet N' Low.

This is the same menu I had planned for my last meal before the Rapture. I guess I can save it for October 21 now. :)

Writer's Block: Bon appétit!

What is your idea of the perfect meal, including appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink?
A perfectly pinkish prime rib blanketed with sauteed onions and mushrooms, a baked potato with butter, and a small bit of a rice pilaf with little bits of green beans in it. For dessert, a couple or more shrimp cocktails with a rich cocktail sauce. For the drink.... if I am driving, Coke... if someone else is driving, a Long Island iced tea (or two).

I get a lot of pleasure out of not knowing much about modern "culture" and I get almost as much pleasure out of pretending that I know nothing about modern "culture".
Probably this is a bad thing.
I am 59 years old. I have never worked a VCR or a DVD in my life.....thats the reason why we have sons. I dont know how to answer a cell phone or send a text message. People who are older than me KNOW this kinda stuff. And I think that not knowing stuff means that I am getting old ahead of my time.

Lady Gaga......yes Ive heard of her.
And for a couple of years I have managed to avoid her.
I know her only as the lady who wears a telephone on her head. But I dont know the name of a single song she sings. Thats how I want it to remain.

If you wanna sing a song.......sing a song.
If you wanna wear a telephone on your head......wear a telephone on your head.
But dont try and make me believe that it is impressive to do both at the same time.

Did Dusty Springfield wear a telephone on her head?
Did Aretha Franklin wear a telephone on her head?
Did Patsy Cline wear a telephone on her head?

I rest my case.

Writer's Block: Bon appétit!

On an out breath I feel my chest shake. Your memory floods my head and clouds my eyes with your exquisite smile. I feel your embrace, I smell your warm breath just before my lips touch your own. Your cool skin warms beneath the palms of my hands. Come happily to me me my love. I've dreamed of you, my great love, and my best friend...

And on and on it goes. No one wants to listen to this soul's lament. Till then it goes on...who's gonna drive you home tonight...?

If I'm at home, my absolute favourite would have to be my fish soup. No starter or dessert, but probably lemon barley water to drink.

Eating out, Nando's - a bowl of peri-peri nuts as a starter (although Sarah eats most of them, as they're a tad too spicy for my delicate palette); a lemon & herb double chicken breast burger, no mayo, corn on the cob and mash for the main course; and Fanta to drink. If I've still got room for dessert, either strawberry ice cream or coconut tart. YUM.

Writer's Block: Bon appétit!

What is your idea of the perfect meal, including appetizer, main course, dessert, and drink?

Wow! What an impossible question to answer for a wannabe foodie, but here goes:

Appetizer: Lobster macaroni and Gruyere cheese
Main course: Cowboy steak with haricots verts and some kind of starch, maybe scalloped potatoes or a traditional mashed
Dessert: Something sweet a la mode
Drink: If I want to be a rebel then I'd stick with my wine of choice and have a bottle of German Riesling, if not then I'd go with a strong red, strong enough to burn my chest. LOL
