Writer's Block: Take me back

Is there any song that reminds you so much of an ex-partner that you can't stand to hear it? Details, please.

My ex used to play guitar and sing this song to me. We broke up about 5 years go. He is to this day the only person I think I ever honestly loved. I don't love or even miss him now, and the break-up was all me, but I do miss that feeling of being so comfortable and content being with another person. That's what this song reminds me of, and that's why I can't listen to it because it reminds me also of how lonely I am...

Writer's Block: It worked for Norma Jeane

Norma Jeane Mortenson will always be remembered by her screen name, Marilyn Monroe. What stage name would you choose if you were an entertainer, and why?

I have a few ideas for some names, but I won't put them down because I don't want them to be taken. Anyway, I would probably have a name that is near or somewhat similar to my real name. But if someone suggested a name that I like, it could work for me.

Adelindraka Caine, Adelin Smith, Nania Chriss, Naania Byrd, Nania Kanye, Arria Argo, Kaelin Burne, Selinia Freki....I could go on. I've thought about pen names for a while.

Well, if I did go into entertainment, it would most likely be as an actress, so I would keep my last name, because I love it and it sounds cool. I might change my first name, though, to a name that I've always loved, like "Sonya".

The name I have fits me, it just doesn't seem like a good name for an actress.

If, however, I were to become more of a singer than an actress, I would probably go by something relating to "Esto", since it's a shortened form of "Estelwen", my name in Elvish.

What was the longest road trip you ever went on? How did you pass the time?

I think it was her talent, not her name, that made her famous. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." I think aplies here pretty well. Also, I believe it was Norma Jeane Baker.

I just realized that I had things to say about this post and yet none of them included an answer to the actual question.

When we were children, there were all kinds of games to find our your different celebrity names, stripper names, future names, etc. For some reason, I've always remembered my would-be "celebrity" name, which would be "Beth Hendenwood."

Yeah. I guess that would work. I certainly wouldn't go by my actual name. Way easier to create a new fake identity than to try to maintain your old one legitimately.

Maybe if I ever get around to actually writing a book, I'll use that as my pen name and hope it, by some small fraction of a chance, becomes something more.

Ha. The sad, sorry life of a wanna-be-writer.

What was the longest road trip you ever went on? How did you pass the time?

Georgia to Oklahoma. I was in elementary school and have very little memories of the trip. I'm guessing I must have slept most of the time.

As an adult it'd either be Atlanta to Chicago or Atlanta to West Palm Beach. In both instances I was driving, so that took up most of the time and I'd just keep on the radio. I love, love, love it when I rent a car and it has Satellite radio because I can tune into a talk and that helps make the time fly. No satellite then I'd do podcasts.

My answer is "Hold Me" by Fleetwood Mac, for many reasons. It is a romantic song that features flawless harmonies and Lindsey Buckingham's inspired guitar work. The song also reminds me of the 1980s, which I think of an a more innocent era.

I'd be a hybrid between some sort of cat and some sort of lizard, because I've got several catlike qualities (lying in the sun, purring, my entire fighting style, etc) and a lizardlike ability to absorb lots of heat from even a little sun. Leastaways, that's my take on it.

If you were a cross-breed between two animals, what animals would they be, and why?

It's really hard to go wrong here. No matter what two animals I pick, the family photo album alone would be worth it. Still, I have an enormous smorgasbord before me and an appetite to match the offering, but I'm told to partake of only two items. This makes it very difficult, so bare with me as I use this prompt instead to think things out and likely not reach any decision at all.

To be clear, one thing is certain: one parent will be an anteater. That's not up for debate at all. The euphorically vulgar exclamations that anteaters elicit means I have to at least have a fifty percent share in that as well. I mean, what do you get in that package? I'll tell you! You get a long snout with an even longer tongue, huge claws, a long tail draped in fur, and stripes! I'd say my other parent should be an anteater as well, but in the spirit of the question I'll play along and choose something different.

My old standby favorites are tempting to use to round it out. What would it be like to be an anteater with the sparsely-furred tail, stylish incisors, and intelligence of a rat? The latter two would be very useful if I wanted a career as a sculptor, but the former, while awesome, would kill a major, even more awesome reason for choosing an anteater.

Another go-to choice is a raccoon. Again, great amounts of intelligence are a plus, and their manual dexterity would compliment those large claws quite nicely. Brown and black bands would be dashing on a flowing tail, and my head would look decidedly less like a cake decorating bag. I quite like this idea, actually, but let's explore further.

What about an alligator? Scales underneath fur would give me one more thing in common with a luckdragon, which were they real—here on Earth, that is—would be a blatantly obvious choice, but that's neither here nor there. Also, there's something about the combination of a gaping maw full of teeth and a long, snaking tongue that's seductively terrifying. The main drawback here is that alligators aren't quite as bright as I'd like, and so I might not even appreciate the experience as much as I otherwise could.

I think, for the sake of making more decisions in a life crippled with indecision, I'll go with an anteater and raccoon crossbreeding. Hopefully I'd get to live such a life free and happy and much like my own now, but even in the event that I'm captured and crammed into some zoo I'm virtually guaranteed a room with a live 24-hour webcam, allowing me all the attention I'll ever need and the opportunity to do things that make parents blush and close out the browser window in a hurry when their kids call them over to show them the "neat thing" I'm doing.

Writer's Block: Born this way

If you were a cross-breed between two animals, what animals would they be, and why?

Growin' up a Harry Potter fan, naturally I put way too much careful thought into what my "animagus" or "patronus" animal form would be. After actually several years of extremely passive mulling, I finally narrowed down the entire animal kingdom to two could-not-possibly-be-more-different-from-each-other creatures: a barn owl, or a seahorse. The only thing the two practically have in common is their mysteriousness. One flies silently through the darkness, the other lurks discreetly at the bottom of the sea. The creatures, according to the descriptions for animagus and patronus, must represent an individual's personality, not simply be their favorite animal. That made choosing tricky... ANYWAYS-----I always enjoyed a good LOL whenever I imagined what a chimera of the two might look like.

Then I met an Eagle Owl in person. *swoooooooon* ^_____^

...And decided to use "Brother Bear" as a world in Heart of the Realm. Due to the beautiful, bright orange eyes and long, pointed "ears" of the Eagle Owl, along with every owl's longstanding association with wisdom, turning Ansem into one for his adventure in that world was perfect! (I've been mulling this over in high-gear lately.) I'm also infinitely glad that I had the idea to include the race of rabbit-people called Viera from "Final Fantasy XII" and "Reverent Wings"------their nature-oriented spiritualism makes them a perfect substitute for the native Alaskan people in Brother Bear, but their mysterious and cloistered way of life makes them easy for maybe one lost little boy to find, but for the rest of the busy world to miss.

Unlike Kenai, Ansem would be an outsider to forest life, because he's a prince raised in the heart of modern society. The wilds immediately surrounding Lambent Falls (as I call what the official cannon calls "Radiant Garden") are heavily forested (as seen in a projector-slide in "Deep Jungle" from KH1) and poorly mapped. So, I'm thinking of having the Viera be the stuff of legends. Citizens speculate, some people claim they've seen or even spoken with one of these tall rabbit people, and yet fewer and fewer people believe they actually exist. (Meanwhile, one becomes an engineer at Shinra's Weaponry Shop!) In truth, the Viera flit through the forest like bunny-eared ninjas. Somehow, (I'm just gonna rant now) Ansem gets turned into an owl and finds their secret city, or finds their city and then gets turned into an owl, I haven't yet decided which, thus begins a very peculiar adventure for the young prince.

I watched both "Brother Bear" the original, and "Brother Bear 2". Surprisingly, BB2 had the most helpful 'pearl of plot' scraped out of the films so far. The lone line, "Once you love someone, they stay in your heart forever." Throughout the movie, it was clearly something positive-------but in context of Heart of the Realm, it casts a blackly ominous foreshadow of Ansem's apparently permanent, postmortem 'crush' on the White Witch of Narnia later in the story.

I've also been 'mulling in high-gear' over what happens minutes-days after the end of KH1. (The end of the 3rd Act) The state of affairs would be this: Ansem never was a true Heartless, because I'm using my old fanfictions "Ansem Report 14" and "Ansem Report 15", which I hope to elaborate on. (Points to the date on that webpage indicating when they were first posted. *wince*) In short, a Heartless is half of a person's heart that's blindly looking for its other half, but Ansem still has both halves of his heart thus he stayed human when his body was destroyed. Since Ansem was possessing Riku's body when he fought Sora in the World of Chaos (a game stage), Riku's body took all the damage and was destroyed practically the instant after he helped Sora close and seal the Door to Kingdom Hearts, leaving Riku's heart in the same ghostlike state as Ansem's.

Without a body for protection, such a heart is exposed to the full forces of Light and Darkness. In Ansem's case, Darkness made him think as if he was a Heartless, thus he was driven mad by a will to consume and destroy. (Note that that still doesn't explain away his earlier immoral experiments; He IS guilty of terribly things in his right mind and of his free will.) At the end of KH1, when he called out to Kingdom Hearts for more Darkness and instead it overpowered him with Light, the Light lifted the amnesia from his childhood and he suddenly remembered once being a benevolent king in Narnia, bitterly lamenting Jadis, and being turned into an owl.

This does NOT grant him alternating good-and-evil personalities, though it comes close; Instead, the overwhelming feeling he has is of not recognizing himself anymore from either point of view----every little thing he thinks, does, or feels surprises himself, and it is in this state of shock that King Mickey finds Ansem within Kingdom Hearts. Mickey sympathizes, and grows hopeful of a turnaround. Even still, Ansem---not completely changed---fervently rethinks his understanding of the heart, and eventually creates two hearts out of thin air. Unable to give them bodies, these two Hearts From Nothing are in the same unfortunate ghostly state as Ansem himself and Riku. They appear human except for glowing amber eyes. Rain, a silver-haired girl, hides hers with a blindfold. Clay, the boy, hides his under his long blond hair. Ansem sports his around showing the least concern. Riku simply turns his face away from everyone.

Noctis, sometime in the middle of Act 2, is frozen solid when his dark powers suddenly flooded out of him all at once.

Savannah disappeared along with Leon & company when Hollow Bastion fell to the Heartless. Then at some point Rain and Clay (the two hearts created from nothing) fled from their maker, took refuge with her, and learned dual-wielding. After all, Savannah's a 1st Class SOLDIER.

I totally lost the original train of thought here. Well, it's been over a week since my last post, and one way or another I seriously needed to get these new ideas written down. Bear with me pwease. Never, ever, EVER take this blog seriously----if I think something ought to be considered a fair sampling of my intellect, I'll copy-and-post it somewhere else. Most of the time I can't even see through the glare of my contact lenses. Fine fate for an artist, eh? I'd be a sand cat/ barn owl hybrid. I'm thinking more of a golden striped wildcat with the wings of an owl, not a griffin with a barn owl's round head, wings, and the ass of a cat.
Why? The cat would be a swift, agile climber, but the owl part would let me fly as well.

What's your favorite line from a song, and why?

First that came to mind: "All that glitters is gold!" because it's a philosophy of life that I like. It's not the riches, it is the richness of one's perception; As an artist, I have the power to alchemize anything I can touch; As a writer, something some people would call "having a golden tongue", I can therefore also alchemize many things that I can't touch. That's the long version version of my reason-------the short version is that line just makes makes me feel better when I'm down. If all that glitters is gold, perhaps I'll go sit on a wall and blow bubbles into the neighbor's yard.... The only other (common) thing in nature that even remotely resembles bubbles, at least which I can think of, is mother-of-pearl, a semi-precious stone. :-)

Scary, though, are those people who can give elegance words to things which are in truth profane........whom I, as a straight-talkin' Christian, decree my long-term nemeses...

Fun Fact: My Irish-Texan gma bloodied her nose on the Blarney Stone. True story!! xD

And then I thought of two more lines, which are also favorites because they are the pinnacles of two very powerful and tragic songs. I literally feel 'a stabbing heave of sorrow' in my chest whenever these songs come to these lines. In order, they are:

"For some reason I can't explain, I know St. Peter won't call my name." - Viva la Vida (ColdPlay)

"And Puff, that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar." - Puff the Magic Dragon

If you were a cross-breed between two animals, what animals would they be, and why?

A fox and a ringneck snake
The fox for the intelligence, lonely habits, excellent hearing, eyesight, resilience, and beauty. The ringneck snake for the sleek and slippery nature, beauty, good nature (compared to most snakes), the ability to slip through and by any obstacle in my path. Really the fox nature would be helpful there too, either in making a way or just slipping by.
Both of these are rarely seen, although they exist in far greater numbers than you ever know. Excellent hunters, both of them, and strong, resilient and intelligent. They make their lives around much larger beasts and not only survive but thrive, due to their talent and ingenuity, intelligence, and even sometimes beauty and relative harmlessness, to those who know of their nature, who know them.
Ok enough of this, there are human issues I should be addressing rather than these flights of fancy. Off to think on the one I thought was going to be mine, was the one made for me, who is no longer mine, who left suddenly when she found that guy. Guess I do hope she has found hers.
Still this fox though sits lonely, though hopefully not for long.

Can I be a mer-cow?  Cows have the life, man.  They just graze and lay around in the shade.  And open-ocean fish are just too cool.  I guess the two don't mix since there's isn't much grass or shade to be had in the open ocean, but.  Hey.  It's early, don't ask me to make sense.

That's what I'd pick for myself, but if the question is what WOULD I be based on my habits and personality, I guess I'd have to be a cat and.... I don't know, some sort of rodent?  A cat because of its curiosity and potential to stare at things for a really long time, and a mouse or hamster because of their tendency to do repetitive tasks day after day.  There's a reason the term "rat race" is applied to the work force. ;)

If you were a cross-breed between two animals, what animals would they be, and why?

I don't think I'd like to be a crossbreed between two animals because I'm already a cross between two disabilities.  I have cerebral palsy, which means I have to use crutches to get around.  If I'm  on an outing with my friends at the Mary Bryant Home, where there may be a lot of walking involved, I get around in a wheelchair.  I tred doing that when I attended the University of Illinois at Wpringfield back in 2006.
I was also born legally blind.  I can't read regular print unless it's being enlarged in bigger font or if I'm reading something off a computer with an adapted screen reader software, such as WindowEyes or Zoom Text.  Wearing glasses doesn't necessarily help me see better; however, it makes the stuff come more into a clear focus so I have a better sense of what I'm trying to look at.  I can't see in the dark, so that's usually when I rely on my hearing and other senses take over.I wouldn't trade who I am for anything else in the world.
I wouldn't want to be an animal that might be a mix between two different creatures.  Having two disabilities is like living two different lives or in two different worlds.  I have a better idea of what some of my totally blind friends have to go through in trying to get around as independently, and I know how it feels to have difficulty being able to get around on my own two feet.  Nonetheless, I can show society what I can do by participating in Special Olympics each year, competing against athletes of all disabilities, ages, and skill levels.  People have been shocked when I got my first gold medal having two disabilities, as well as being the youngest participant amoungst the young adults.

Definitely not my real name because no one can pronounce it right. If I'm going to choose a stage name, why would I divulge it here?

If you were a cross-breed between two animals, what animals would they be, and why?

A wolf and owl hybrid.

I love both of these animals, to the extent where I actually have plans to get them both tattooed on me in the future (wolf on my right thigh, owl on my left, though the placement is still up in the air. I was thinking each one facing outward, but the more I think about it, the more I want to get them on the top). Anyway, they're also my spirit animals, and it may sound strange, but I've always felt really connected to both animals, though wolves more so than owls.

Plus how fucking cool would a wolf with wings be? I mean really.

In other news, today is the second day this week that I've been up early. It has its pros and cons - on the one hand, I get tired sooner, and thus can get to bed earlier rather than stay up for 24+ hours multiple times a week. However, I usually can't find very many things to get done during the day, so I spend the majority of it sitting in front of the television, bored out of my mind. I'd usually probably walk to the gym or just go for a walk in general, but the heat/humidity has been so awful lately, I find myself not having any sort of desire to venture outside (though today it is supposed to be considerably cooler, so I may go for a walk or something). Plus, my Psych lesson came in the mail (five long units of Psychology. I am in fucking heaven), so I'm really excited about that, and being that I'm actually up, I'll probably get started on that as soon as I'm done with this.

In fact, it's such a beautiful day outside, I think I may set my laptop up out on the balcony and do some of my work out there. I just hope my papers and shit don't get blown away.

I would be a coyote/raven hybrid, because coyotes and ravens are the best! Only I'd be purple, with pink raven wings, and bright chartreuse eyes, and I have four long feathers in my tail 'cause that's lucky, and also I have star markings on my butt cheeks, and wear big baggy pants and a hoodie with a Jack Skellington head on it. And I'm © to me, so don't steal!!!11! <3

As it is living in Japan, I rarely hear my real name spoken anyways. When tossed into katakana, it becomes longer, so they complain and turn American on my asking for a 'nickname'.
(Which I do not have, nor have ever had to use)

Knowing that from daily life here, I decided to make my stage name which is a pun from the kanji for my first name in Japanese and have began to introduce myself with it now while I train and study as an aspiring voice actress.

As you see it, is how I plan to use it.
Written in English with the Japanese character next to it meaning/read the same way.

Here's hoping it truly will come in handy on a positive note ^^

Sometimes I feel like a half wild wolf dog.

I was raised in the bush, away from society. My parents thought that for me to be socialized would be the ruining of me (yeah, they said that!), so I never learned to be comfortable around other people. Even now there are things that will send me figuratively hiding in the corner and snarling with fear and confusion because they are either totally over my head as to experience, or they've triggered some stupid old flashback and I've acted the idiot before I even had time to think about it.

A cat and a bird. Cats are just so majestic and beautiful, and birds are graceful. Both are playful and feel like they rule the world.

And the thought of being able to climb really tall tree then fly away is just so cool. And could you imagine how beautiful a creature that would be? Personally a white coat with black spots with numerous colorful feathers mixed in sounds great.

Natives complain of my real name being too long when written in katakana (Japanese), so seeing as I'm aspiring as a voice actor anyways, I figured to make one as a pun from the characters based off my real name and came up with above mentioned :)
