What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?
JUST one thing? How do I pick? We need to tax the rich more, repeal the patriot act, fix the broken healthcare bill by adding a public option, arrest all the Republicans for treason and stick them in Gitmo for the rest of their lives, raise the minimum wage, pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, cut funding to the military, restore funding to Planned Parenthood and the education system, add funding to welfare and food stamps, restore funding that was cut from social security, and rebuild our crumbling infrastructure. Then we need to pass voting reform and have some goddamn PUBLIC oversight of electronic voting machines, maybe make a kind of electronic voting machine that produces a paper backup that can be checked later, ban butterfly ballots, tell Arizona that it's "where are your papers" law is unconstitutional and needs to be repealed, and give the new consumer protection service as a director the woman who pushed so hard for it, and give the agency some teeth... and some claws, and a chainsaw to boot. Oh, also: REPEAL DOMA, and make gay marriage LEGAL on the federal level. (Fuck states' rights!)

I could probably go on, but I won't.

What fictional television show would you want to live in? What character would you play?

Hmm, there are a to of shows that I really like, but there are two that come to mind for which I'd love to live in.  It would either be Doctor Who, just because it is an awesome universe full of adventure of science fiction intrigue.  The character I would be?  I'd be myself, as one of the Doctor's companions!  The other show I would want to be in would be Pokemon.  Call me lame all you want, but how AMAZING would it be to have your own team of pokemon?  Huh?  I f you gave it some honest thought, I don't think anyone could deny how freakin' awesome having an actual pokemon would be!  Again, I'd just be me, or a smarter version of Ash, 'cause Ash was kind of an idiot.  So yeah, go Doctor Who and Pokemon! :D

Вопрос дня: Лучший совет

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten (and want to share with other LJ users)?

Odd choice, but The Golden Girls. It's not really a far fetched "fiction" T.V. show, but it's the one I'd like to be a part of. Easy life with hardly no worries (just the innocent quirks they got themselves into, of course)? That's a life to live... My character of choice would have to be Rose! She's so air-headed and completely oblivious to many of the climax's in the series. If only the real world were like that... Maybe it is more far fetched that I thought.

An odd ball choice, but I'd go with Mad About You to be Paul Buchman. He's a somewhat successful film maker (which is what I'm in school for right now) and has an incredibly beautiful wife in Jamie played by one of my favorite actresses Helen Hunt.

I like the whole normal life thing. Ironic since I hate Manhattan.

Obviously, we need to fix the economy and such. I think people really need to take that into account. I think that the problem really is in the government, and everyone (president, v-p, senators, governors, etc) are all doing everything they have to, to stay in government rather than what is right for the country.
Really what I'm trying to say, is that what I would change, is not something I can change. It's not a law that you can pass. It's just a plee I can make to America. To the people and government and teenagers and senior citizens and everybody. Please be noble. Please do what's right. The country is very negative in a lot of ways, and it doesn't have to be.

I'm kinda afraid to say I'd like to be the Doctor, cause he's positively crazy and it's more fun watching him than being him.
I guess I'd be a companion then. Which kinda sucks cause eventually you'll be left back on Earth and you'll only have memories :/ But that's better than nothing eh?

What kind of spiritual or meditative practice keeps you feeling zen?

The spiritual or meditative practice that keeps me feeling zen... is not actually spiritual or meditative at all I suppose. Whenever  I am in need of de-stressing I take a drive. I take a drive down the back roads with my windows down. And generally I stop at lakes or rivers. I sometimes take pictures. It is the "alone" activity that really helps clear my head. And while it doesn't necessarily help me reach my inner soul... it certainly makes me feel a hell of a lot better. Plus I love adventures and they are kinda of mini-exploring-adventures to me.

My name's Forrest, Forrest Gump

What’s your favorite Tom Hanks movie or character, and why?

My favorite Tom Hanks movie or character is... obviously Forrest Gump. That movie is one of my all-time favorites. Just the irony of him being at all of these historical events is funny. Also, it really shows that the simplest of people really have a sense of... contentment? about the world. I mean, Forrest even says that he is not a smart man... however he is happy. HAPPY. How many people can actually say that they are happy? And that is what I love about his character. He takes what is given to him. And he is happy. He may not understand or know what to do all the time... but is that really the point of life? No... Accepting the world and being happy is all that matters. No one can change the world. No one can stop war or hunger or anything. The important thing is to find your Jenny, never let her go, and live your life. And you will be HAPPY. Like Forrest.

What’s that one song that always reminds you of the one that got away?

Kind of sad that the singer is dead, she was a really good singer. If I told you that I never loved anyone, I'd be lying like no other. Yes, it's like a bad joke. I know. That Sam actually loved someone. No, it isn't that far fetched, I'm human and fall for people. One could I tell you about her. I'd profile her, but I don't think you'd like that. Only weird people like talk about people like they are objects or something. I'll tell you her name. Grace. So, Korean. She reminds me of when I was younger. Actually, it's more like High school, even worse, Freshman. I don't know why I carry around this. I don't really care what anyone thinks. I remember a lot of good things about her. I also remember the horrible thing that I did. I saw her at Cal State Fullerton, but I didn't have the courage to talk to her. I kind of felt like it was a dead end and I should let it go. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm stupid. Anyways... I should tell you about the song. There were a billion songs that were big during my life in high school. It's kind of odd that I still remember it. It brings a smile to my face and if you know me, I don't smile much. I'm kind of broody, actually, I am broody. I'm trying out for Batman, alright. Drop it. But one day, in Spanish, man, I love that class. It was like destiny because we kept sitting next to each other whenever the teacher gave us seating charts. Yeah, our teacher did that. Interestingly enough, he stuck the three Korean kids together with one African American guy, Dante. One day, the teacher makes us play, memory with English and Spanish words. Don't ask me what she was wearing cause that's beyond me. I remember finding it fun, I remember losing to her. I think she knew. She was really smart. And I was an idiot. And yes, I'm smiling as I'm writing this cause it's one of the good memories I have. I don't have many. After we are done playing, "Dreamin' of You" is on the radio because the teacher was playing the radio. My feelings started developing during summer school and it manifested into this. Dan, my best friend, and I have a lot of conversations about this. Anyways, I remember looking at her. Later on, our friendship develops into one where she kids around with me. It wasn't until later I realized that she was in my 8th grade science class. I wasn't such a detective in my high school days, I wanted to be a D.A. Don't ask. Hahhaha... did you see that? Let me just tell you something, something that happened after Freshman year weren't very good. Lots of mistakes were made. But I do miss the simpleness of high school. And I miss the girl's smile. The last time I said I probably won't see her again, I saw her in Spanish. The second time I said I won't see her again, I saw walking passed me on campus in Cal State Fullerton. So, just for fun, I'm going to say I probably never see her again. I'm an idiot.

What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?

Ugh. Today, science sucks. I can only choose one thing? Or worse, I have to be responsible for choosing one thing? I mean… my grasp of the nuances of the economy is… weak at best. Healthcare is an issue, and sadly the first thing that sprang to mind, because I’m pretty poor and heartily sick [hur hur] of the just… appalling rates for insurance. But then again, the way we hemorrhage cash is also something of a problem, the debt is astronomical. I mean, I don’t often get to use the word “astronomical” unless I’m literally talking about astronomy – but… Pluto is not up for discussion, and the debt is bloody astronomical.

But I think far and away the biggest problem I have with the government as it stands, is the assumption that the government should fix everything. Please oh please big daddy, make my mortgage payments for me and hold my hand while I cross the street.

… that went to a weird place, but that’s where I am.

P.S. When I was little, I thought he was singing "Give me the Beach Boys" and I agreed wholeheartedly. :-)

There are so many! Lost, Pushing Daisies, Glee, Doctor Who, Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, Fringe, etc etc! I don't know!

Glee, I'd be Finn cause he gets all the damn girls even if he's a jerk sometimes. Doctor Who, I'd be a damn doctor! I'd most likely be Gob in AD. I'd love to be VMars because she's so great. And I'd be Peter in Fringe because he gets Olivia.

I guess I'm in it for the girls mostly...

What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?

The U.S. needs so many things to be changed I am reluctant to list them all. Such changes would only be superficial (improved infrastructure, health-care, etc., although I do admit these things would be nice). We need some deep and lasting rejuvenation in order to have a chance of sustaining positive growth (and I am not talking about economic growth).

We require a paradigm shift from the instinctual emotion-based decision making we do and insist on a cohesive agreement on the kinds of thing we really need to actualize our lives, such as a fulfillment of material necessities and the toleration of each particular individual's existence within practical means for this goal. We must also lessen our use of ideals to shape other people. For example, we should no longer prescribe and proscribe behavior based on an idea of gender. Gender is not black and white, neither is sexuality, so why do we need a universal standard for these besides for purely communicative reasons?

These are just a few steps for each of us to find our own “language,” a way for us to express ourselves in a way that transforms the experiences we have had from interacting with our environment. We must free ourselves from the language of our masters and see what we are for who and what we are, see the connections and ideas that form them as the reality in which we live. Once we realize this, I believe we would be on a better and livable path.

What fictional television show would you want to live in? What character would you play?

1. Supernatural

I would be an offspring of an (arch)angel and demon. I would be called Soleil and I'd have both angelic and demonic abilities. I would be able to transport myself and other people, possess someone (not like vessels but temporarily controlling someone while I stay inside my own body), burn things and kick ass.

Of course, I'd be totally in love with Dean and since this is my fantasy, he'd be in love with me, too. lol

2. White Collar

I'd be an art collector or, in other words, an art thief. I'd be Moz's foster sister. I'd call myself Jamie Davenport (JD as in Jane Doe since no one ever knows my real name, like Moz). Peter would be totally against me helping Neal and Moz with a side project they're doing, helping a client of mine retrieve (steal) what had been stolen from them. I'd get in trouble and they (Neal, Moz, Peter) would save me; they'd get in trouble and I'd save them. Everyone happy.

3. Dexter

I'd be a serial killer of sex offenders. This roots from me being abducted when I was 11 by a family of psychotics. Aside from me, they'd had other captives of girls my age and older. We'd been kept in a ranch/farm. I was able to escape when I was 16 and killed everyone who'd abused me and the other girls by burning them, but keeping their eyes as trophies. I'd meet Dexter years later. I'd be working as CI for the FBI White Collar Crime division though being loaned to vice whenever an undercover is needed. I was following a subject stalking a prey who turns out to be Debra, Dexter's sister.

4. Chuck

I'd be an ultra villainess and arch-nemesis or John Casey though I am a few years younger than Chuck. I'd be an assassin (called the Shadow) who has never been sighted until I was assigned to kill Chuck. Because of mistaking Devon (aka Captain Awesome) as the intersect, a fight ensues between Sarah and I. Chuck and Casey come to the rescue and somewhere along the scuffle, Casey will recognize my fighting stance/techniques.

5. Psych

I'd be Shawn Spencer's cousin, Jack's daughter. Gifted as well with keen observation and retention skills, I always antagonize Shawn by pointing out things that he misses. When we were younger, I'd stay at Henry's for the summer and undergo the same "training" Shawn and Guster had from Henry. In the present, I'd need help with a case I'm working on (as private investigator) only to find out that it's completely related to the case they'd been trying to crack for weeks, too.

congress and the president need to get thier heads out of each others backsides an take a real look at the economic problem. its not so much a growing national debt as a shrinking gross national produce. so many people are out of work there are not enough existing taxes to support the curent government spanding. they need to promote the growwth of industry and give the nation a worthwhile goal to stimulate businedd into creating jobs. wars dont do this. they cost more than they create. the world and not just the US needs to set a global goal like building an international base on the moon to explore mine and do experiments to expand human understanding, tecchnology and reach. mine the helium 3 needed for fusion reacters to create cheaper energy and mine the natural resources like titanium, cobolt and other minerals abundant on the moons surface to stimulate earthside construction , manufacturing and industry.

What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?

I actually posted this as a rant last night but I think it fits here as well.

I don't follow any certain political party. I half-heartedly pay attention to the government issues. Truly I think most politicians are afraid to say this is what I think because they may not get the next vote. Well, this budget balancing and debt fiasco has my panties in a bunch. Brace yourselves I am about to piss some people off and others will be glad someone else finally said it.

America we are in debt. As a country we are spending more money then we make. This is not a good place to be. Its a sign of weakness not power. It is no different than an individual buying the newest cell phone, computer, fancier car than his neighbor, bigger house when he is already in debt of the last models of all these things and can't pay the bills coming in. He robs Peter to pay Paul. Debt collector are calling every hour. Paychecks being garnished. Utilities being shut off. Trying to get new credit lines because old ones are maxed out.

What that means is we have to make tough choices and give up things to get out of debt. We need to eat hot dogs and noodles for a while. Skip going to dinner out or watching the movie at the theater. We don't need to buy new clothes when we have a closet full already that fit and look nice. We don't need a new car because the one we have gets us from point a to point b without breaking down. We have to cut our budgets and use that money to get back to the black and create a savings. That means not putting money in a vacation fund and using it to pay the outstanding electric bill.

The government is going to have to do the same. Every budget category will have to be looked at and deep cuts made. EVERY category. That means services are going to have to be cut. Military is going to have to make due with last years model of air plane. That someone is going to have to say hey we can get the $10 toilet seat instead of the $50 one. Roads are going to have to be patched instead of resurfaced. Welfare programs will have to be cut some. No area is safe. Every area should experience cuts. No pet programs. Everyone will have to experience the tightening of the belt. Just a fact. Yes it sucks. Its not fun. Its no different than our personal budget.

With that being said, our personal budgets are going to be affected by this. Brace yourself now because it has to happen. We are in debt and can't depend on someone else (our government) to pay for our needs. The budget and debt crisis has to be fixed or it will only get worse. Then its a matter of keeping it fixed.

That means making better choices with money. Looking at what is the best use of health care, education, infrastructure, supplies, military, and other budget category money. We waste a lot. We abuse the system. We need to be accountable as individuals and as a government.

Every year we hear about social security having issues. Ok we are paying people that didn't pay any in. People are trying to live off of social security completely instead of using it as a supplement to savings and pension. When social security was created it was meant to supplement not be sole support. Three generations ago didn't get into debt. They made ends meet and lived within their means. They didn't go buy a a panini, a snowcone machine, and a donut deep fryer. They used the pans and pots they already had. They saved for rainy days. The next generation got more in debt, didn't save money and were going to be dependent on pensions and social security. They didn't bother to change the plan when companies stopped offering pensions and switched to 401ks. With 401ks they had to save their own money. They couldn't or wouldn't because they were in debt or trying to keep up with the Jones. Buy frivolous stuff that sets in a cabinet until it gets sold at a garage sale or thrown out. Now many are trying to live on a just social security while things like health care and utilities continue to be out of control. Mostly due to abuse, greed, and lack of integrity in improving methods and new ways of doing things. Social security is being given to people that never contributed. Don't even get me started on welfare. This generation is beginning to save and learn better financial ways but many feel like they are entitled to benefits just because they were there before. But they were offered because as a country we were living out of our means. Now its expected.

To put it blunt, we as individuals and a country need to develop severe allergies to debt and wasteful spending. We need to teach financial responsibility. We need to get our budgets in order. We need to take responsibility for ourselves.

What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?

Well, well... this topic or thought is one that flows through my mind frequently especially since I commute over 200 miles a week just to spend a few hours with family.  My gripe is the rules of the road, I commute over HWY 152 and the incline is murder on the transmission.  However, that which makes its worse is when you have to come almost to a complete stop, and begin your climb again.  This stop and go up the hill is practically unavoidable simply because you have a 18 wheel truck that's supposed to be in the left lane changing lanes just so he or she can go four or five miles an hour faster.  WTF and if you commute you know what I am talking about I have yet to have replace my transmission, which I know will be expensive no way around not spending a grip, its cost's... now who in his or her right mind would want to spend a whole week or two of family vacation money on unnecessary auto repairs.  No one, thats who, and these truckers should respect the civilians whose tax money is going to keep these roads up.  He or she may be a tax paying civilian as well, however during these transmission murdering hill climbs he or she is on the time clock making money not wasting it, and they are not necessarily paying the road taxes at that particular moment.  Change the law Mr. Obama and let our families enjoy our vacation money (family memories yo) instead of having to drop a couple grand on transmission repair.

I really shouldn't touch this, but it's way too tempting this is the sort of thing I do for my classes and extra-curricular stuff, but I'm not naming names or parties just the general teen population (me included and I suppose adults too, but I only really know about teens, they're who I spend most my time with, so I'm not going to say anything negative about something I've only experience a few times). We do have a bit of an ignorance problem, not everyone, but I have met people who honestly haven't read the Constitution and who have no idea about the contents of the Bill Of Rights. I'm not placing blame for this either, and your not getting that out of me...so...thanks for listening to my rant.

There is so much I would like to see changed in this country, but the one thing that I would like to see happen is that the government to work for the people. It seems too many times. like what happened the past two weeks, that politicians seems to fighting over political ideology than what the people want for themselves.  They are more worried about how they look to their voter base instead of doing what they should be doing, and voting for what the people want.

Health insurance still isn't where it needs to be, and with the current state, looks like it will be taken further from the goal. My best friend, a diabetic, can't afford the test strips, so gives herself shots by Braille (one should always test before dosing with insulin). Yours truly has no insurance, but is healthy as an ox. The irony is, I would be glad to add to the pool in gratitude for my genetic makeup and healthy lifestyle (too poor to drink, use, carouse). Extraordinary care is given to people at the end of life, but none to prevent extremity.

One thing that needs to be changed in the US is how people with disabilitie are viewed. The stereotype that we're stupid, dumb, or lazy needs to be eliminated because we, as people with disabilities, deserve to be given a chance to have a decent education like everyone else, a well as equal opportunities to have a job and be on our own.

I'd like to live in Bones and play Temperance Brennan.
I think it would be really awesome to play an Anthropologist at the Smithsonian Museum and help the FBI find killers and look for clues left with the bones of the victims.
It would be really exciting to find out how someone died and in a way dig up their life to help them and their families find justice.
Plus I would get to hang out with Booth a lot which is not necessarily a bad thing. (I think they should be together it has been six seasons too long people!!)

I don't even know if this answers the question, but Kusano Akira from Nobuta wo Produce will always be mah eternal favorite. It's like he knows the world without knowing it --> pretentious analysis LOLWAT Unless a better character comes along, but untl then~

Great. I did NOT answer the damn question.

Writer's Block: Happy birthday Mr. President!

What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?

The voting process needs to be altered to better reflect the wishes of voters, and not of the random guys who just promise to vote for whoever you ask them to vote for.  While the population may be too large for a simple popular vote to work, there has to be a better way to do it than the Electoral College.

Writer's Block: Happy birthday Mr. President!

What is one thing that needs to be changed in your country?

What's the one thing that needs to be changed in America? That's an easy one:

The man who is sitting in the White House as president today.

How a completely unqualified, completely unknown, socialist-utopia-seeking, America hating, Islam loving friend of a domestic terrorist and a racist anti-American preacher was elected to the highest seat of power in the most powerful country in the world is the biggest fraud of all time.

And STILL people follow him. It borders on outright worship. It's the sickest thing I have ever seen in my lifetime.

(Are you kidding me? LJ shills for Obama as well? Did we ever have a birthday post for President Bush during his 8 years in office?)
