What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

Jook. It's Chinese rice porridge, I think. We boil turkey or chicken bones for broth and use seaweed and dashi for flavoring. Mix in copious amounts of rice and simmer till thick. It's the most awesome comfort food ever for when you're sick, rainy day, or just got back from the dentist and can't eat solid food....Now I'm hungry, mmmmm.

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

I believe in spirits to a certain extent. I believe they exist where we do and they live their own lives. Therefore I believe in afterlife as well~

My grandmother is extremely superstitious though..
And she says I was born under the blessing of Buddha or something..
So I'm forced to go to temples to pray frequently and stuff because she says if I don't, I'd die young orz.
She prays for me just before my exams and makes me drink /holy water/ made from burnt paper which had inscriptions on them..
I highly doubt those actually help since exams ARE tests to determine your capabilities.. I guess.
If I didn't have to become a Buddhist, I think I'd choose to be a free thinker.

If you had the option to learn the exact moment and details of your death, would you choose to know?

Which movie or book character are you most like, and why?

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

I'm superstitious about some things. Spilling salt makes me do the 'throw over the shoulder' thing. The biggest thing I'm superstitious about is saying "Macbeth" in a theater. I get really upset if people do that and do my generic good-luck/protection/someone-said-Macbeth-again chant and stomp around thing that I picked up at summer camp a couple of years ago. I do that chant while walking the perimeter of whatever stage I'm performing at a couple times during a production regardless of whether someone said "Macbeth" just to protect the show, the company, and the theater itself.
Also whenever I stand up from a table or lounging on a couch or something I like to rap the table three times in a specific way, because at summer camp you couldn't leave your table until the "waiter" (aka whoever lost the Waiter Game that night and had to clear the plates) rapped the table three times.

Do you have a best friend? How old is your friendship?

i guess best friends does not always mean for you and i going out together or doing crazy things together in a long period of time! a true friend can also be your pet or the stars at the night sky which is always loyal to you, best friends can always keep a secret and always there to listen even if your story gets old and boring, :)

My favorite movie villain is The Joker. I  love the way the he goes about pulling off his crimes. He won't just go into a bank or store and say " give me all your money or else!" He dresses up in creative costumes and make a theatrical entrance with weapons like bombs with smiley faces on them, joker cars that can cut your skin, laughing gas...ect. And they people that he gets to work for him have these outfits that you would only see in a punk rock music video. Either that or something from lady gaga.

What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

Um... my mom doesn't really do a "specialty dish" because... well, she's never in the country long enough to cook. She makes Bavarian cream pies for Christmas and that's about it [not that they aren't spectacular]. My sister's kindof a foodie though and she likes to cook, does things to chicken that actually make it palatable, which is quite a feat. Mostly though, my favorite foods [the ones I salivate over] come from restaurants - Sushi, clean soft cool sushi, especially anything from the tuna or yellowtail family. Indian Curry [or even Thai curry, though I prefer Indian] like lamb korma or chicken tikka masala. Chinese food [the peking duck at Heaven Dragon is superb, and their sesame chicken is unreal]. Spicy meatballs in red-pepper marinara heaped with goat-cheese...  Ooh! Good Barbecue... ribs, chicken, pork tips, brisket... hell even catfish, I love good bbq.

Okay, I like food. Really, I like to eat, and will eat just about anything. Dishes from home that I request on a regular basis - Tuna Tater Pie [shutup, I like simple food too], Drunken Chicken, breakfast souffle... there are probably others. Bring on the deadly calories.

chicken and dumplings.  my mom used to make the best chicken and dumplings.  from the time i was very small, i couldn't get enough of it.  i remember one time when i was still pretty little, i ate four dumplings - more than my father, even.  the whole time i lived far away, whenever i came home to visit, she would always make me chicken and dumplings.  to this day, i still love chicken and dumplings.  it tastes like my mother's love.

It never fails, but unconsciously, I avoid splitting poles. Otherwise, I don’t follow lots of superstitions. I practice positive affirmations though. Not with the thought that something bad will happen if I do otherwise, but mostly because it feels better walking around feeling released than strained. Still, I do own two Maneki Nekos (beckoning cats) and a Chinese Good-Luck dragon. Insurance maybe?

If you are dating someone who says they aren’t ready to commit, would you wait? How long?

Who are your favorite television or movie villains? What makes them so deliciously evil?

My Mother is an excellent cook and there are many dishes she does well.

Her parents were German ans she learned to cook from her Mom, but when she married my Dad she learned to cook Italian and is great at it. Lasagna, Chicken Cacciatore, Spaghetti and Meatballs, all excellent. I also like her roasts, gravy and whipped potatoes, chicken and dumplings. She's learned to make Mexican food and some Chinese. She makes cakes, pies and cookies from scratch.

I can make most everything she can except gravy and dumplings.

What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

My mother's specialty dish did not make me salivate. She cooked the same 7 dishes every week. When I left home many things happened.
  1. my health improved
  2. my weight dropped
  3. I discovered that many, many vegetables were delicious, especially when undercooked or raw.
One dish Mom made does make me happy: enchiladas. Real Mexican food, (the greasy, limp, finger food you won't find in most restaurants),  is my "comfort food".

Well considering that Mom has no salt/ low salt tendencies...hmmm...that is my father and brother's response to it as well.  Let me think...I guess potato soup if I'm in the mood for it.  Bless her heart for cooking it for us, but she is not the best cook.

Stuff & Writer's Block: Get in my belly

So I've been on my new regiment for a week. Still not perfect. I forget to take my blood sugar and insulin a lot of times. But I've managed it at least once a day, and I've been writing it all down. Which is better than my usual NEVER. I've been tracking my calories, and eating over 2200 every day. Sometimes more, but that seems to be my minimum. I even did my NYC Ballet workout with Bean today. Taking all my pills. I even added some flinstone vitamins. Still getting acid reflux pretty bad, and head aches for the last couple of days. I assume because of the weather, but who knows. I'm really pretty proud of my improvement. The scale says I've gained weight... but after gaining so much water weight previously, I don't always trust what the scale says. Some of it could just be fluid retention, as I do seem to consume a lot of sodium. I do feel bloated a little bit after I eat sometimes too... and I've woken up in the morning a little swollen, but it usually goes away once I'm up and about and take my lasiks. So while the scale SAYS I've gained weight, I don't trust it to be all actual weight. I do think SOME of it is weight gain though. I'm going to do a little dance when I finally get over 90lbs. again. If it actually IS weight and not just water... I could possibly do so in a little over another week at the rate I've been going. That'd be close to 10lbs. in two weeks. Not to shabby.

What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

My mother isn't really the cook in our family. But there ARE still things that she makes, that I just don't like when anybody else tries to make it. I like her chicken soup the best, because she makes it with rice. I also can not stand potato salad if it's not hers. She also is a pretty good baker. She makes awesome breads. My favorite is her zucchini bread. She makes it from a recipe handed down in her grandmother's hand writing.

My father also makes things. There's like a LIST. Seafood casserole, the stuffing at thanksgiving, pumpkin pie, and "movie guy"... which I think is essentially an asian stir fry dish that I just couldn't pronounce as a kid. All of those things are my favorites of his.

Oh man, almost anything my mom cooks is amazing. Lasagna at Christmas. Devilled eggs at Easter and Thanksgiving. Tacos. Macaroni with vodka sauce. Burgers (before we started neglecting the grill). Ham and pork loins. Prime rib, steak, London broil...

*drooool*

She doesn't cook much anymore because my bro and I will either make ourselves whatever or we'll go out to eat when our friends are around. She'll usually cook for holidays and on Sunday evenings now.

I'm really gonna miss her homecooking when I eventually leave. But, for some at least, I hope to learn her recipe well enough to make my own. She really doesn't deviate from the normal way of making things, but I guess it's just that homecooked taste I can't get enough of.

As I said before, she's gone right now til late next week. She made me tacos though and I still have enough to last me another 2 nights probably.

Ugh. I don't like how my weekend is already half over. I don't want to work Wednesday through Friday, three days in a row at that job is too much for me now.

Sancocho de habichuelas, which means "red beans bouillon", in Spanish. This has been my favourite dish for ages.

But I recently discovered that my mother doesn´t cook very well; in fac In the past, I thought she was the best cook, but know I know that is the kitchen aid who is responsible of all the dishes that comes to our table.

So it has been these hard working women who have been cooking for us all this years. But as my mom likes to say: "OK, they cook, but before cooking, they read my recipe´s book".

But the true is that her recipe´s book is not hers either; it belonged to my grandma...

OMG... My mom's mashed potatoes are to die for.. I usually don't like potatoes that much, but when mom makes them YUMMMMM. she uses REAL potatoes (not the boxed flakes that a lot of people are using now days), adds her spices (salt, pepper, and I think a little garlic), and some sour cream. She then used a blender to get them really smooth and yummy. I have tried and tried to make them but the are never quite right. Nobody makes them like my mommy...

My mother didn't have a specialty dish. She prepared meals because she had to feed all of us, but cooking was never her thing. And that's one thing I inherited from her. I never cook for the fun of it. In fact, now that it's just me, I rarely cook at all.

Sure, the pros are obvious—but what are the cons of having a friend with benefits?

The cons of having a friend with benefits is falling for the friend and not having them fall for you. You want to continue the friendship and the "benefits" because of the way you start to feel, but at the same time you want to end at least the "benefits" part so that you don't continuosly keep falling deeper and deeper.

Anyone who knows me will know that I lost my mother to an auto accident, oh god, has it really been three years? Anyway, another subject... Anyway, I have the most fond memories of my Mother's Southern Style Chili. It won a few cooking competitions and deserved every blue ribbon it got! She and I were the only ones who liked it really hot and spicy. So anytime she made it there was always a special pot that she and I shared.

It will forever be one of my great regrets that I didn't get her to teach me how to cook it. But, as the French say... C'est la vie.

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Pretty superstitious, my Mum and my Nan are/were so I've been raised the same. For our family it's less about getting good luck and more about preventing bad luck. Don't put new shoes on the surface of a table, don't cross other people on the stairs, don't give an empty purse as a gift to someone (even a penny stops it being "empty").

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

A few years ago I dropped the word “LUCK” from my vocabulary and replaced it with the word “BLESSED”.

Maybe you think your life is all about happenstance.

Not me. There’s not a fat chance great things occur by accident.

Every good and perfect thing that happens is a gift from above, divinely orchestrated.

To believe anything less than that demotes the truth.

I feel a good song coming on...

My mother was a terrible cook. Seriously, if it didn't come out of a can she didn't know what to do with it. She could burn eggs so bad the fire department had US on speed dial. "Hello? Is there really a fire or is your mom cooking again?"

However, she could bake bread so light and delicate it would make you weep with joy. How she managed that much more difficult task still boggles my mind.

And now I want fresh bread. Seriously.

What's Harry going to do now that the series is over?

Join Pottermore so that he'll never really stop being Harry Potter and abandon all other aspects of his life purely to devote his time to being Harry Potter because afte 11 years he just cant let it go like that because people are counting on him. Or, of course, he could get another role in a film or pursue the west end as he is doing now. But i like the idea of him completing the first action. Or better yet, as Tom Felton fondly said "Join a Harry Potter rehab where you can sit and pretend to be Draco Malfoy" he was of course referring to himself, but there is one rehab I wouldnt mind visiting frequently. Come to think of it, they should have a Vampire Diaries rehab too, so Damon Salvatore will never leave. And a Twilight rehab, so Jacob Black will never leave. Mind you, i prefer both of those actors to the charactors. I dont care much for the other Twilight characters, except perhaps Ashley Greene since she reminds me of me often - she's relatable, and so it's only right that i feel more connected to her than the others. It would especially sour the mood if Bella Swan was in the Twilight rehab, even though she is the main character. She just gets in the way! I dont understand what it is about these Vampire shows and movies that means the main character has to be so god damn choosy. You'd think that they'd choose the better looking one, but no, they choose the more 'boring, brooding' type. And of course, this is ok - it's their choice - just dont pull along the other lover like a pet or something. It's just not fair. Though i think Twilight justified it somewhat since Jacob fell in love with (Or imprinted) on Bella and Edward's daughter. It's like the Universe or the Werewolf clan saying a big 'screw you' to Bella for hurting Jacob so. And The Vampire Diaries season 2 ended with that somewhat of a downfall kiss between Elena and Damon, so perhaps they're justified also. Then again, she's cheating on the man she 'loves'. And it's funny how when Damon accidently kisses Katherine, thinking she's Elena (Dopplegangers are god damn confusing), and Stefan gets in a rut about it like someone's just said his butt is big or something or other, Elena says, and i quote "That was Katherine. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT" all i could do was scream "LIAR" at the television screen when she puckered up with Damon not too long after. Granted, he was about to die, and she was giving him his dying wish. Well... his dying wish would have been to sleep with her, but they just didnt have the time. I'm pretty sure if Katherine hadnt strutted in there and saved him, that's exactly what they would have done. Still, she's officially a cheater. And you know who'll get the blame? Damon. Because Stefan just cant stand to blame his beloved, cheating, girlfriend. Remind you of someone, Stefan? *ahem* Katherine *ahem*
But this is about Harry Potter, as i so often forget
I'll be seeing the new movie soon! Around my birthday time
Yes, i know, i'm late at seeing it. But it's the holidays and i have things to do. I'm either out or i'm writing or i'm on the phone or i'm on skype or msn or facebook.
But mostly, i pre-write things instead of actually writing them on livejournal, because on Saturday and Friday nights and... well pretty much every night really... i have other things to do like enjoy my youth.
It's wierd, because most people wouldnt believe that i write.
Most people think that i'm a clever person but not a very 'goody two shoes' person.
I CANT HELP IT IF I'M AT A PARTY AND THERE IS ALCOHOL

well... i usually go out until the week before my exam, and then do some light revising. Then on the morning of the exam, i realise i have an exam, and i start revising
It's obvious i'll fail my exams then -.-
BUT, i'm not going to go and get my results until school starts
Result collection two days before my birthday? Oh yeah, that'll go down a treat!
I THINK NOT
Though i'm hoping if i'm good, i can go to the end of the year 11 party. You see, i've been invited on numerous occasions. And of course i have that two year older annoying brother who went before me, got completely wasted (since it WAS a piss up, more or less) and comes home with god knows what all over him. Apparently he fell. And was chased by a cow. Or was it a horse? I remember my other friend that was in year 11 was chased by a horse at the piss-up. I think it's in a secluded area near a country side or something. Since, not everyone in year 11 is sixteen, and you dont want police showing up, especially since there are no adults
And of course, my brother has told my mum not to let me go just to annoy me. I then follow this up with sweet talk to my mum to bring her over to my side, and then chased my brother with a broom.
HARRY POTTER
right
i get so easily distracted its unreal
gahhh i'm supposed to be getting ready -.-
i've saved this week and the last week of holidays to go out every single day, morning to night

you know why?

And all the other pretty clothes websites called
I CANT HELP IT
my paypal account is now thoroughly exhausted
well... my mother's paypal account
BUT YOU KNOW, it's not my account, so i dont need to worry about it
I want to do some real shopping though. It's been two days since i went on a shopping spree and i feel the urge to splurge again
My father was supposed to give me £2000, since my brother got £2000 not so long ago, but he hasnt given me that yet.
I think i might just take his credit card instead and go up to Oxford street
i was thinking of buying my prom dress from America as well - they have a lot more designers so i can get a custom made dress, and they have a lot more designer brands so if the custom made dress doesnt go to plan, i can just buy one
I've bought three prom dresses so far. I want to keep my options open. My parents dont see the point in me buying about 10 prom dresses over time just so i can have choices when it would be easier to just buy it when i needed it, but what if i never came across a dress like that again?! I'd wallow in the misery of it all
Then of course, my mother saw no point in buying them early also because she doesnt know why i bought a dress size in a size smaller than i am already (size four in the UK, size zero in America), when i dont know what size i'll be in year 11.
i laughed at that
WELL OF COURSE i dont know what size i'll be in year 11!
Nonetheless, i bought a size four dress (well, three now), so that i can hang them up next to my cycling machine and just stare at them whilst i'm cycling on the same spot as if i'm cycling towards a size four!
I'll be damned if i go to prom as a size 6. In the UK, up to size 12 is acceptable.
but i know size 12 people (one person in particular) and i WILL be three sizes smaller than her (though it's funny because my bra size is a lot larger than hers even though her body is on the large side), because then i can look at her and say HA, YOU B.TCH, THATS WOTCHA GET FOR TRYING TO RUIN MY LIFE FOR A YEAR
she thinks she's one of those american girls in the movies
first of all, she's asian. i'm not being racist, because i'm asian too. i'm simply saying - there arent many asian girls in those america high school movies.
second, she's a little podgy. and that's being nice
third, she permanently wears puffy eyes (i dont even know why she has those i mean good god woman sort it out. i was actually scared the first time i met her - i thought she had an allergic reaction)
fourth, her lips are so damn pouty they're like fishie lips. You see, full lips and fish lips are different. I have full lips. Jessica Alba has full lips. Various other celebrities have full lips. Pete burns has fish lips. that size 12 girl, has fish lips
the only difference is, she was born with it
she just doesnt know how to sieze it
i sieze my imperfections like i'm seizing my laboutins, or my jimmie choos. oh, those jimmie choos. i feel like crying when i look at their prettiness
but that's beyond the point
where were we? oh yes
fourth - she's sad. no really, she's sad sad sad, not popular at all
You know how all of this started?
This footballer sits next to me in every class that he's with me in, and he's like really hot. sooo it's natural i start liking him
But that B.TCH, likes him too
NOW HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT?!
so i sit there talking about how gorgeous he is and she finds out he and i are best friends
THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TWO SOCIALLY ACCEPTED PEOPLE GET TOGETHER!!
good god woman!
and then she goes on this rampage where she's telling all the populars all this dirt about me
DIRT THAT AINT REAL B.TCH
and she's thinking my friends believe her more than me
so i go up to them and tell them it's not true
that's a basic overview. i say she thinks she's an american b.tch because the situation really was like the stuff you see on american TV. and england is tamer than america so me no understando where all of that came from.
but i mean, i wont lie, i did one step worser than her
IT GETS ANNOYING AFTER A CONSTANT YEAR OF TORTURE!
i "accidently" (and i mean accidently) let slip some stuff about her. and now all the populars know about it
WELL SHE SHOULDNT HAVE MESSED WITH ME
but i say onestep worse because she's blissfully unaware. so she'll never be able to fix it or tell them it's not true
But you know why they believed me over her?!
COS SHE GOD DAMN BULLSHITS ABOUT EVERYBODY!
you just dont do that
i mean if she was pretty it'd be more acceptable - he trying to be a girl from mean girls
BUT SHE ISNT SO YOU KNOW
ok well i've completely derailed so i'm going to go get ready, and talk to you guys later
p.s. pedophiles and lesbians - i got nothing against you (Well nothing against lesbians anyway. pedophiles i kinda dislike), but please save yourself some time and refrain from commenting
and i say this because i've had comments on here by pedos/lesbians who think that i'm up for things with them that i'm clearly not

Writer's Block: AIDS Walk

Do you think there will be a cure for AIDS in your lifetime? Why or why not?

Well we certainly have the power to. If everyone used protection during sex, then we could wipe out AIDS purely through using one generation. But of course, not everyone is willing enough to use protection, and there fore it spreads.
It all started with animal f*cking, so perhaps people should stray away from the animals and just do humans instead
as many people usually would
they wouldnt exactly like to be raped by a monkey so why do it to them?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

Writer's Block: Get in my belly

What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

My mom made a lot of things. She was a closet gormand and a really good cook who enjoyed creature comfort and complex flavors without getting too froo froo about it. Growing up in SoCal, we had a world of ethnicities available to us and I never knew how unique that was until I moved to the land of White.

One thing my mom made that was really irreplacable was this strange Mexican casserole called "Sue's Sh*t". That was the family name for it, no joke. It was sorta like a chilaquiles, where tortillas were layered in sauce and sour cream, with chilies and olives. I am not sure what else. Mom said it came from a co-worker that she knew in the 70's who made it up and it was passed around since.

Other than that, recipes were adventures. There was the adventure of the gumbo that was Too Hot but Oh So Good when we mistook teaspoons and Tablespoons of cayenne. Gumbo, itself, was one of those signature dishes of my teen years that my Mom and I worked at perfecting.

When I make it, I still work of the pattern we created and hear her whisper in my ear "..the roux should be nut brown...."

My Mom was a wonderful cook and made the best meals but the most special was made by my Grandmother. Every Christmas the whole family would gather at her house for her home made Raviolis. It was a feast with chicken and potatoes and all the Christmas deserts and trimmings… I think of my Mom all the time but going to my Grandmothers was the best… Its one of my most treasured memories....

Mlekkos - Literally translates ass Milk-food.

Made simply from Milk, butter and flour, it may not sound like the most appetizing thing... but it really IS good :3

Especially with a bit of Cinnamon and sugar and a generous helping of Vanilla :DD

Recipe:

Rub 100g butter into 2cups of flower until mixed fully. Mix in 1/2 a teaspoon of salt.
Heat slightly 2 litres of Milk and mix wet and dry ingredients thoroughly.

Place in Microwave for 10 minutes on Medium heat and stir occasionally until Flower is cooked and the mixture is thickened to just less gloopy than porridge consistency.

Sprikle generously with Sugar and Cinnamon, and stir in a table spoon of Vanilla Extract.

Writer's Block: Breaking the bad

What’s a bad habit that you really need to quit?

Biting/ chewing on my lips.  This is sort of a chicken-vs.-egg thing, but my lips have a tendency to get chapped, so I bite them, so they get chapped, so I... get the picture?  The one bit of make-up/ cosmetics that I always, always, always carry with me is my chapstick.  I wear it religiously.

But. yeah, I probably ought to try not to nibble so much.

My mother is a very creative cook, and not the good kind.  My father, however, makes fantastic chili. Texas style, no beans, very little tomato. The falvor comes from the meat (sometimes beef, sometimes venison, occasionally goat) and massive quantities of spices. It's not particularly HOT, just very very rich in flavor. In a 2 gallon pot (the only size he knows how to make and it's rarely enough) he puts in an entire quart of his own special spice blend- paprika, cayenne, cumin, oregano, black pepper, garlic, onion powder...amazing.  He serves it with a chunk of cornbread, and that's all.

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

My goodluck ritual is just simple or maybe weird! hehe!
I close my eyes for like three seconds and tell myself Go! Fight! Win!
I even extend my left hand in front of me and my right hand would go on the top of my left hand and its go fight win!

To be perfectly honest, my mom wasn't that great of a cook when I was young.  And my mom is a sugar addict.  So, I'm going to have to go with her Cherry Junk Cake (a pie, really) or lemon merengue.  Of course, I got very little of it, but  what I did get was really good!  :-)

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

No.

Well, actually, yes, perhaps there is one thing. I don't have dead things in my house unless I intend to eat them or need to wear them (shoes). Dried flowers. Skulls or depictions of skulls or bones or the dead: images of violence or mourning. Images of pain or cruelty. Death can come to my house when he wants to get ME. Otherwise he's not welcome across my threshold. I've seen enough of that bugger to last me a lifetime.

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Um, not superstitious so much as perhaps ritualistic and open-minded. I don't know all the forces at work on, with and in the planet and universe.

I hold my breath over bridges. I talk to the house, greeting it hello and farewelling it goodbye each time I come and go. I thank every bumblebee that knocks against me or manages to find its way into the house for the message it has given me, and then gently talk it outside. A dead blackbird is a worrying sign. I'm kind to every spider I find save the White Tails which are dealt swiftly and violently to with a shoe. I don't walk under ladders because that's common sense. Black cats are just black cats, but there seems to be a lot of black cat ghosts hanging around. I'm respectful at every place even rumoured to be home to a Taniwha. I suppose there's others but I can't think of them now.

Any holiday meals or Sunday dinners after church.

But the meal I miss the most is my Grandma noodles. I can not reproduce it as she made homemade noodles. And there are two things no matter how I try I can not make noodles and boy have I tried or pie crust.

There are sooo many!

My mom is a fantastic cook, and she worked in a bakery way back in the day.  I am not sure I can just choose one particular dish...so since it is summer berry season here I will choose:

Her 'blueberry crumble'...there is no recipe. She has always made it by 'instinct' and it just cannot be reproduced. Maybe it's all the love she 'added' to the recipe over the years.

What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

I had a mother who didn't believe cooking was one of the more important things in life. She was fond of raw food could be stuck in the microwave. She also didn't think microwaves were one of the more important things in life, so the microwave oven we had was already decrepit by the time I was old enough to remember it. I think it might have actually been one of the prototype microwaves they used in the lab while they were inventing them, and she just found it by the side of the road and brought it home. Microwaves of that age could only brown one part of the food to a grotesque keloid-like rubber while leaving other chunks cold and wet. My most memorable childhood food experience was when I was served a plate of rice-like stuff which I insisted I couldn't eat because it had bugs in it. The adults present told me I was being silly. On cue, a tiny worm crawled out of the side of the food and hurried off the plate. I burst into tears. I don't remember what happened to the worm but I hope he made it to freedom.

Of course her spaghetti and meatballs comes to mind first, as that's my favoritist dish. But I also very much love her beef stew, her lentil soup, and her chicken divan. I could keep going...but I might short out my keyboard with my drooling! ;)

Writer's Block: Get in my belly

What is your mother’s specialty dish? In other words, what food makes you salivate at the thought of it?

Nothing. She doesn't really cook homemade meals or special things because she doesn't like cooking. I tend to mostly eat frozen meals because most of what she makes is like Hamburger Helper meals that I don't like (I don't really like the beef in most of them). Healthiest family ever, aren't we? I've been eating Pizza Hit pizza the last few days. Either that or chicken salads from Chickfilla, which I guess isn't as bad. Eh...

Oh, well, actually, she does make some good potato soup. But only if she puts noodles in it. No noodles, no good. And she only makes it like once or twice a year =\

My dad, on the other hand, makes some good chicken bog, and some good chicken and rice stuff with peas/carrots/etc. It's too bad he doesn't cook more often, or that when he does cook, it's usually to make vegetable soup (that I don't like). *wants chicken bog now*

I'm a big fan of answering with the first thing that comes to mind.  It's usually right to go with your gut, particularly for questions that... relate to your gut.  ;)

Spaghetti and Meatballs.  And yes, my Mom's Meatballs deserve a capital M.
