Writer's Block: Live action hero

Which is your favorite or least favorite comic book-turned-movie?

"Captain America: The First Avenger" Mostly, because the casting choice for Captain America/Steve Rogers was perfect. Dressed in a uniform, he looked just like the young everyman American G.I. from World War 2 which is exactly the way that the comic books try to portray Steve: just another kid from Brooklyn that happens to be a supersoldier.

Ooh, deep question. I think there are some memories I could do without, but I don't know how I'd value the new ones if I couldn't remember the old ones. See what they mean in context.

Hmm.

Still. While I don't think I'd ever make this choice, if it was presented to me...

Hm. I wouldn't mind a clean slate.

Yeah, can't resist because I've been postnig a lot on memories lately. Obviously this is a pointless question as neither is an option one would choose. Some will lose most, but not all (and that the real tragedy of memory loss, either through injury or dementia diseases, enough memory is retained to make it really frustrating and sad). To make no more is, well, dead. And only if you believe that ends it. Or maybe locked in a cell designed so nothing changes. Or maybe this fucking job I have, except every so often something different does take place.

What I would do, however, is trade some of the memories I do have of times with people who turned out to be assholes, abusers and users, for clearer memories of wonderful people like the one I once knew who recently passed. Actually, I'd like to go back and make more with him and fewer with others. That would work for me. Can I get that?

I would rather lose all of my old ones. I have lived through serious horror and the thought of never having to think of that shit ever again is great to me. Let's just Eternal Sunshine the fuck out of my fucked up life. Sounds good to me.

Writer's Block: A stroll down memory lane

I'd rather lose all of my old memories than not be able to make any new ones: loved ones still living could always be re introduced, relationships rebuilt and even made stronger, but being stuck in the past without being able to go forward would be hellish at best.

My Answer:

Both ways are essentially important to a person's life, but if in life I had to choose one option, I'd choose to lose all of my old memories than never be able to make new ones.  Old memories are very important, but it's mostly because back then the past was the present.  In order for us to look forward to the future and be in the present to live life to the fullest, we will need to make new memories.  That way, our new memories will become our treasured old memories and then life will be in a contented balance.  Not being able to make new memories would hurt a person's well being, and most likely end up in suicide.  Looking forward to the future and forgetting your past would be more efficient than not being able to be remembered in the future and think of all not only the good, but the bad memories as well.

Writer's Block: Scary movie

What is the scariest horror flick you’ve seen?

I have never seen a horror movie which actually scared me. Ever.
This is not because I avoid scary movies or even because I have nerves of steel, it's because, for me, scary things exist as ideas or concepts.

Written horror can scare me sleepless (cf the userpic for this entry), and I'm very capable of sitting quietly and scaring the hell out of myself because I'm thinking about some story idea that I still can't manage to write properly.
I can come up with a scary idea, or I can plant an idea in my mind from a well written and well constructed horror story, but movies just don't do it for me.

Writer's Block: A stroll down memory lane

I think that I would rather lose all of my old memories. Because if you're not able to make new ones, then you really don't have a life. But then again, I guess it depends on how you mean it. Would you not be able to have memorable moments and just not remember them (Like short term memory loss?) Or just not do anything to make new memories. In either case, I've just realized you should stick with the old memories because you can always write them down and enjoy the memories you have. Either way, it's a sad concept. You choose.

If I had to choose between losing all of my old memories, or never being able to make new ones, I would pick losing all of my old memories. Even the great ones. It's better to live in the present then worrying about the past, and it would suck ass to be Lucy from 50 first dates, I'd probly go crazy. old memories seem to fade over time anyways, sometimes it's hard to even remember the really old ones, it seems like it is something almost made up after so long....

Writer's Block: Do you feel lucky?

Are you superstitious? Do you have any customs or special rituals that you perform for good luck?

I have about 348392432 rituals and I'm extremely superstitious. If I look at the clock and its 11:11 or 10:10 I have to knock on wood. I never even heard of such a stupid ritual til I was riding in the car 6 years ago ish with my cousin James, and it was 10:10 and he pulled his car over so effing fast and had to go knock on a tree, and because I'm tarded and OCD I have been knocking on wood ever since. I also HAVE to knock on wood if I say something like; "The car hasn't broke down yet..." It's annoying but I feel like I HAVE to. I don't really do anything FOR good luck, it's usually to keep myself from having anxiety... Every day when I eat something I have to look at the front and back of whatever silverware I'm using before I eat with it to make sure it's clean, how stupid is that? but I've been doing that one since the 7th grade. Most of my other rituals are so nothing bad happens, in my mind anyways. I pray everynight and it's the same prayer since 7th grade, just a few words are different... wow I am lame...

Absolutely the first. There are days I seriously consider whether it'd be worth losing all the good memories to purge all the bad ones.

Then I decide I'd rather keep the good ones too, but it's hard not to go picking at the bad ones, like old unhealed wounds.

Writer's Block: A stroll down memory lane

That is a tough one. On the one hand, the memories we allready have are what makes us... well us. The first memory you have from a certin food will decide wether you like it or not and so on and so forth, but, to lose the ability to create new memories that's... awoful, really, truly awoful and I don't think I'd manage to carry on like that, so I'd say that I'd rather lose my old memories and create new ones than lose the ability to create new ones.
Gee, the things that get me going on at this time of night...

Writer's Block: Just a perfect day

Describe the best day you’ve ever had. What made it so good?

The best day probably came from the night I saw my favorite band Genesis in concert in 2007. I would see them again if they toured again, but seeing them live at least once was a true blessing. :)

What was the last political scandal that got you all riled up?

It wasn't a scandal per se, and it didn't really get me riled up, but it was the Presidential election of 2000. I was going to stay up on election night until the winner was decided. I did go to bed a bit late; thankfully I did then as Florida had its voting controversies.

Turned out to be a "best of both worlds" thing: Bush won the presidency. Gore won an Oscar. :)

Writer's Block: Crime pays

Do you think that criminals should be able to profit from selling their memoirs, after serving jail time?

It is legal to publish anything (up to a certain degree, as free speech has its limitations), so any person including a criminal can sell their memoirs.

Of course, profits will be determined by the quantity of buyers. It would help if the criminal who has done his time showed good nature by helping both himself and the general public. For example, donating half the profits to a cause or have resolution on what he learned in his experiences.

Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?

I'm kind of reluctant to answer this because I'm (irrationally) afraid someone will come out of nowhere and club me over the head to make this fantasy come true.

*after a quick look behind self*

If I had to choose, I'd rather lose all of my old memories. I can't live without the ability to make new ones-I couldn't be as independent as I wanted if I had to rely on someone to tell me what day it was, and that I wasn't in a time loop (though it would seem as though I were). Besides, I have enough journals and other notes floating around, so I could probably reconstruct my old memories pretty easily.

But, as someone whose nickname is "The Elephant," I'd really rather not lose either.

I would rather to never be able to make new ones. My reason for that is because my daddy just passed away 2 weeks ago, and if I lost all of my old memories, I would lose the only things I have left of him. And believe me, I want to always know that he existed and remember everything I can about him.

Writer's Block: A stroll down memory lane

I would probably rather lose all of my old memories. I have a lot of good memories that I cherish, and a lot of bad memories that I've learned from, but I don't like to live in the past. To be unable to make new memories would mean to me that I would forever be stuck reliving my past, and knowing me I would probably end up thinking about mistakes I've made and should-haves even more than I already do. I'd inevitably just get depressed.

If I'm able to make new memories, though, the slate is clean: I can learn from screw ups, I can make good memories, I can get out and live life. There's a future ahead of me and a road to take, and I've always been one for wandering down roads without knowing where they'll lead. It's much better than just sitting in the same place and thinking about the things you've done.

Not to mention, losing my old memories would mean forgetting all the awkward teen years... I could probably do with losing a lot of those memories. lol

Writer's Block: A stroll down memory lane

I would like to keep my memories rather than make new ones because my memories are  very precious to me. Some memories might be painful, others may be very pleasant but I wouldn't throw them away because they're what made me who I am :) Also, in my case, I just moved to the States so I wouldnt want to throw away all my memories that I've made with my old friends :) But i guess.. I also would like to make new memories too because they might make me become a stronger person! However, at the same time, I would still keep my old memories. I know some people might think that "How are you suppose to remember all the memories you've made through your whole life" Well... I know I wont be able to remember every single detail but atleast I would remember the most important memories in my life! :D I didn't really answer your question.. sorry.. But I can't just throw away old memories like trash but I also want to make new memories.. preferrably better ones too! ;)

I'm also sorry if you read this answer because it was probably a waste of your time.

Sure, the pros are obvious—but what are the cons of having a friend with benefits?

One quite obvious con would be if someone started to develop feelings for the other person and those feelings weren't reciprocated. It would mean devastation and a permanently broken friendship.

Another con would be the loss of self-respect and respect for the other person as a by-product of that 'relationship.' Not only that but the feelings of not being worthy enough for real love when it comes by.

Those are some pretty serious and intense cons there.

Now shush. It's sleeping time.

What is the scariest horror flick you’ve seen?

I watch pretty much every horror film that becomes available, except for demon/satan stuff (in which case I would say Paranormal Activity 1 & 2 were the scariest). So for me, first it was Ring, Samara was just freaky. Then it was The Grudge, because bug-eyed blacked haired dead broads are just frightening. But really, the scariest I have ever seen was Dead Silence. PUPPETS BAD!!

The Blair Witch Project. Not the stupid sequel, the original motion-sickness-inducing-handheld-camera-shot Blair Witch Project. To this day it is still the only movie to legitimately creep me out. The only other movie that has ever come close to that was Paranormal Activity.

In other news, there hasn't been much. I've been busy working to get ready for AnimeFest as well as working on commissions, and sometime this week I should be getting the first batch of artwork from Mike to color for a new internet cartoon series starring Ben Stein. (Two degree separation from Ferris Bueler's Day Off FTW!) I don't know the title of the project yet or if I'd even be able to say anything about it if I did, so I'll have to leave it at that. Internet cartoon series, Ben Stein, yay.

My mood is set to grateful because today is the first day of school for AISD and I don't have to do anything. It may be four years since I graduated from Ringling but I still relish this time of year every single year just because my butt doesn't have to be behind a school desk ever again.

That being said, today is Bree's first day of her sophomore year of high school. Please send her a good vibe today if you have a moment to spare.

Have a good first day of school, Bree!

10th grade was a good year for me. Enjoy it!

I would have to say without a shadow of a doubt lose all my old memories. I'm a fairy young person, young 20s, so that would be a lot of memories that would never be made. Personally, I am intrigued with the idea of a blank slate - just starting over: new name, identity, character, life, history, everything. Tabula rasa. Isn't that why we all do new year resolutions? A chance to renew ourselves and begin again? It's the same concept, different method.

Original Halloween. The 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror, wasn't as campy as the first and Ryan Reynolds was brillant as George. The Birds yet again another Alfred Hitchcock film. The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I liked it better than the Exorcist the original. No offense to the original Exorcist I thought it was good and for the time period all the special effects were amazing! But I saw the Scary Movie that featured the Exorcist joke and same with Alien I saw SpaceBalls and thought something funny was gonna happen. And for my final in my ten...Dog Soldiers. A clever B-rated film but it had some amazing effects that really drove it home even if the whole movie was nothing but blood and guts. No I found none of the Saw's scary mostly cause I was enthralled by the way he killed them.

chris is really someone who is pulling me away from God. He got me into smoking, he's getting me into sexual things. I started drinking after we started getting a little more serious, not like a crazy about but more than normal. is Tattooing something i can unless myself into? I want to tattoo, or i think i do. its cool, and i've always loved art and like i said in my tattoo paper. even though scott didn't give a care really about what it said im sure he just skimmed through it, I love art, and its crazy that you can turn people into your canvas i can tell people i wont do certain tattoo's. but that was fine, begining at the tattoo shop i was good and its the same situation but me and chris started talking around then that when i started spiraling down. Or am I just in denial that it IS actually the tattoo environment and not just chris. stephan and jessica are not smokers, and the 3 of them arent really drinker so why do i have to drink and smoke? If anything i should be going against it because 2/3 of them dont do it. maybe cause i was caged up when i was religous. I want to praise you day and night but i feel like i can do it at the same time as living a fun life. Im afraid i'll get out of control like jessica did. I dont want to do that...

maybe i just need the attention, its not like anyone else listening to me. the boys that like me will tho...ugh...i need to control myself. im gonna start getting tired of chris...if i dont push myself away i want to know he likes me before i do it with him. but he turns me on, and i want to just have fun too. i dont know when we make out its hot and im all in the moment and thinking i will. but i feel like we're not as alike as we had first thought...me and darin are more of a match. i think i get it. people may not be very attracted to their husbands but they forget about it because would they rather be hot for your lover or in love with your best friend. the one who likes all you like and feels how you feel about everything. i just wanna ugughghgudfjg CHRIS IS SO HOT!! dang >>...

i like Jon conner. even though he seems like a douche bag

I feel so alone...im going to lost darin because he'll realize i just wanna be friends. chris will realize he really doesn't like me and get sick of me hanging around cause i know im the rebound girl...the girl thats just their cause i might be able to fool around with her

I don't generally get affected by horror movies. Pretty desensitized to gore, lol. That said, The Ring actually freaked me out to the point of unplugging every single TV and monitor in the house when I returned home after seeing it. It did not help that six month later after watching it again on VHS the phone rang during the closing credits. Thankfully the person on the other end wasn't a psycho little girl but a friend who was incredibly amused once the situation was explained to her.

I haven't seen it since. I'm sure I'd enjoy it if I did but... eeeeegh.

Oh, also? It's not technically a movie, but IT. Man if Tim Curry hadn't done Rocky Horror, Annie and The Worst Witch, I'd be petrified of him even out of clown makeup. Thankfully the other three balance that shit out.

What is the scariest horror flick you’ve seen?

It's hard to say. I can think of quite a few good horror movies. Alien, for example. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it and it's still not a movie I want to watch in the dark. Even Evil Dead has a nice creepiness to it, though I don't know if it has ever really scared me. Except maybe for the tree rape scene.

But I'm tempted to say that the scariest film I've seen might just be The Night of the Hunter with Robert Mitchum as the Reverend Harry Powell. It's kind of a slow movie, by today's standards, and there are no flashy special effects or blood-dripping monsters, but I still can't hear any version of Leaning on the Everlasting Arms without feeling a chill. When you get to the end of most horror movies you can relax because you know there really isn't any such thing as zombies or demons or chitinous horrors from another world. But Harry Powell is someone who could be sitting beside you in the theater.

Honorable mention goes to Hitchcock's The Birds. While that's back in the realm of things that, in all probability, will never happen it's still enough to give an ornithophobe like me fits.

Guillermo del Toro's El Orfanato (The Orphanage)

I've seen quite a lot of horror movies. Some of them are fun, some of them are cheesy, some of them are gross (not really into those), and some of them scare me and make me watch through the holes in my afghans (like the Paranormal Activity movies. Those really creep me out). But I don't think anything has horrified me as much as the resolution to The Orphanage. My paranoid mind recognizes that at its core, it could actually happen, and it just . . . terrifies me.

Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?

Having thought about this I would say I would lose my old memories. Make no mistake at least 90% of who I am is because of my memories. I have too few a memoirs so I can't fall back on that either. It would probably be hell sometimes, wondering if you are living a better or worse life than before losing your memories but being able to make new memories means I will have a chance to start over, I won't be 'locked in' with just what I know, I can move forward. I can re-connect with people, I can re-build. I do not mean that people Antegorade Amnesia and some such live terrible lives as I've known/heard of a few that do live relatively normal lives, just that if I had a choice in the matter, this is what I would choose.

Writer's Block: Scary movie

What is the scariest horror flick you’ve seen?
I saw them both at t young age, and not only did they shape my little mind, they also left little mental scars for various reasons.

Also, if not obvious,  I'm a sucker for the classics.

However, for psychological scary movies, it would have to be the whole Saw series, because I don't know how I'd get through a Jigsaw test.

It would have to be the movie Valentine with David Boreonuz (i don't think i spelled his name right) But anyway that movie scared me half to death, But the movie was really good, I still have it even though I don't like to be scared,My sister is still trying to get me to watch My Bloody Valentine and I'm not sure yet is it worth being scared?

It takes a lot any more for movies these days to scare me. I find the paranormal, demons, what have you to be scary, but what really frightens me is stuff like in the movie 28 Days Later. It scared me because it seemed real. Something like this could happen. It may not be exactly like this, but knowing that a virus could break out, could turn you, or the people you live into these horrible mosters and you have no choice but to kill them or die. Mentally that's frightning.

Sure. Demons and ghosts spook me too, but a viral outbreak is too real and more frightning...

28 Days Later is the scariest thing I've seen. When I saw it, I wasn't screaming or covering my eyes, but after I left my mind just began to think, "Shit. What if something like this happend?"

Also, the zombies, whatever you wanna call them are so super humanly fast and freaky. IDK if I could handle that, lol.
