Writer's Block: All by myself

When by myself, I tend to dream, I think of what I may become, what I want to happen in my life. I don't wish to be rich or posess endless material thingsI just wish to be a good person, to be a good mom. I think of the things me and my daughter will do together and the days we will have. I think of things she may talk about when shes in school or when shes a teen and things are going on in her life. I dream of a life that i never had, a happy one, filled with memories and special days of just doing nothing and enjoying it.

What’s one thing that you love to do all by yourself?

What’s one thing that you love to do all by yourself?

The one thing I like, no wait, love to do by myself... I would have to say that one thing is to sit back and drone out to my music. Not go catatonic and take a nap, but to sit there and let an entire album play by, listening to every detail, every nuance that I never was able to notice before.

I can listen to any album, any band, any music style and not worry about anyone or anything else. In those moments, nothing matters more than the music. I can sit back and enjoy the mental images that come as each part of each song comes and passes. No worries, no judgments, just soundscapes.

Anything really. I mean I love spending time with friends and family but sometimes just being by myself and being alone makes me happy. It's where I'm the most content and at peace. So basically the one thing I love to do by myself is just to let myself go and lose the air of reality for a while...that and punch dancing to dubstep (I would never want to do that in front of people...EVER).

Kyo

Writer's Block: What would ____ do?

well... this is a really interesting question.
my fav singers are Ruki and Kyo, so I would be probably one of them.

why Kyo? - because his voice is really awesome, and I would be really glad to talk and sing with it. the high pitched tones, growls and mumbles he does are so asjskjdhjsga that I think I would not be alive anymore if I could do this too. and his laugh! *melts* like, really - he's so arousing *p* haha.
I would be him because of his life and vision for world, too. his vision for life seems so... how to say it? hard? I'll be happy to understand all things that he means by his lyrics... well, I understand them usually, but how he can write such a sad, depresive and pervert lyrics all the time, and they're still so AWESOME? someone would say that he's out of 'limits' already, cuz he writes about the same feeling again and again, but, his lyrics are still so fuckin' awesome that I just can't understand how he can do it.
as it seems, his life is not that happy, then. he got through some hard things in his life; but I still be glad to be him, even if just for a week...
and to finally touch his body! *fangirl scream* lol.

why Ruki? - well, this is something similar to Kyo's case. to know his feelings, to know the vision for life he has, and to understand all his lyrics too.
I'm really angry at PSC and SonyMusic Japan, so I would be glad to know what's really happening. I know they have a contract with them, but I want to know for how long and with who will they have another contract when the one with PSC will be out of time... I want to know what's really behind it, because GazettE changed so much, when they got from King Records into SonyMusic Japan. SMJ said them, that they should make a song for their anime Kuroshitsuji II and then they'll become more famous. but what's the point for becoming more famous when people would see them only like an anime-opening-band? believe me, it is so annoying to see all the comments like "I love the GazettE! I found about them because of Kuroshitsuji II!" and what? you found about them like that, ok, it was the plan that SonyMusic had, but... but what exactly? they're more like that! they're more than just an opening band, and they deserves it. besides, I read that Ruki was writing on his blog that he hates when people talk about them like about anime-opening band. ha, because they. are. not. they did an opening for anime, and what? DEG did too, and people are not talking about them like that.
and what is the point to becoming more famous, again, when you will be famous although but you'll even lose your fans? yes, we can't call this true fans then, but anyway... this is just sick, how can someone manipulate with somebody else.

I understand that they have their problems, and it would be probably hard to live with them and to solve them, but to be one of them for only a week wouldn't be bad xD

okay, I think this is all to these two.

but I'd like to be Reita or Toshiya, too! why? PLEASE, TEACH ME HOW TO PLAY BASS! D: I know, I have to practice, but anyway - it would be awesome to be one of them!

I think this is all I wanted to say. I'm really asleep, but I wanted to write this. now, oyasumi~

Writer's Block: It’s Women’s Equality Day!

Do you think women are treated as equals? What changes would you like to see?
Women are most definitely not viewed as equal to men. Most societies as they were developing were patriarchal. This means that their culture was passed down through the generations. Even just a couple decades ago women were viewed as the primary homemakers. Amelia Earhart? She was radical and so was her husband. Everyone expected when she got married she would settle down, stop flying, and have a couple of kids. Instead she broke more records than ever. Although she is acclaimed now I'm sure the men in the world were grumbling. Women were so inspired by Earhart.
Some of the others writing on this topic have pointed out the issue of pay. Women do get paid less for the same work than a man would be. I think we need to establish a firm salary for each level of a company. No wiggle room.

I'm going to go to bed now. It is 1:40 am where I am haha :P

Do you think women are treated as equals? What changes would you like to see?

The fact that this question is being asked and that there's a Women's Equality Day is testament alone that women are still not being treated as equals.

While I don't want kids, I still find it unfair that women who have them/want to have end up having to fear for their jobs, but if a man becomes a father no one thinks anything of it. Consequently, women get less opportunities for advancement than men in a lot of corporate settings. Moms get paid less than dads. Hell, a lot of women get paid less for doing the same job and often have less to retire on as a result. Plus, why is it always assumed that a woman has to stop everything she's doing to "start a family" and be expected to give up (temporarily or otherwise) her career and other aspects of her life to have children? Why are dads who make those sacrifices instead viewed as weak or effeminate?
It shouldn't be about the gender of the parent that stays home; it's about who has better skills with running a household and/or gives up far less income.

Why do women who sleep around get called sluts, but men who do it are da man? Female sexuality is still so repressed in this society it's sickening. God forbid you be honest about your proclivities and intents, yet women get branded as liars! Maybe there's a reason for this?

If a man writes a book about families and relationships, it's considered literature and an important contribution to society. A woman writes a similar book, it's just a chick lit beach read. Why?

If questions like this still have to be asked? It's obvious women are still not seen as equals.

Not yet. Things are better for women, but we are far from treated equal.

When a movie like Zookeeper is made with an obsese, homely, middle-aged WOMAN who ends up with a gorgeous, sexy young dude...and it isn't a ridiculous comedy with a million fat jokes. THEN....MAYBE we will see women treat as equals.

What’s one thing that you love to do all by yourself?

I'd like a day when this is no longer what passes for trans female supportive art by cis people.

I listened to that thing for about a three weeks in rotation, the baseline was so hypnotic I hadn't even realized this song's narrator is essentializing, surgery-obsessed, degendering, and continually pushing the object of her song to reveal her operative status.

Still a good beat though.

Do you think women are treated as equals? What changes would you like to see?
Simple answer: yes and no. Even simpler answer: not touching that with a ten-foot pole.

In all seriousness, I'd like to see less emphasis on sex/gender overall, because I think the regimented stereotyping ultimately hurts everyone. And some of the stereotypes are unexamined, taken for granted; people don't even realize how narrow-minded they are.

Also, it seems that sometimes we ask the wrong questions. For instance, we ask why a person of X race, X gender etc. didn't get a particular job, when we should be asking why there aren't enough jobs for everyone.

Do you think women are treated as equals? What changes would you like to see?

I wasn't going to post anything (it's 5:45 in the morning; what could POSSIBLY possess me to post so damn early in the morning?!), but as I was just about to click on my friends page to catch up on entries, I saw this question of the day. "Do you think women are treated as equals?"

The fact that we get an "Equality Day" (what does that even MEAN?) pretty much screams, "INEQUALITY."

I'm fortunate enough to live in the United States where women's rights are actually taken seriously. We still have an incredibly long way to go, however (ie. Single mom = "Awww, how sad! She must be miserable" vs. Single dad = "Awww, how NOBLE of him! What a nice man"). Pay rates still don't match between men and women, and the constant double standards sicken me. Why am I "less of a woman" if I'm not very good at cooking? Cooking isn't built into

Finally, the fact that influential women like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann can achieve such a position of power - a position where they can actually make changes in this country - only to use their power to spew the same archaic bullshit that keeps women on an uneven playing field makes me want to VOMIT. There's so much more to me than my child-rearing capabilities. That's not to say that I will never have kids (I might, I might not, who cares?), but I am a well-rounded person and have so much more to contribute to society that doesn't involve children.

However, for as "bad" as I think I may have it, nothing compares to the women of Africa, the Middle East, and certain parts of Asia and South America. I count my blessings everyday and can only hope that their situations improve as well.

So. Are women treated as equals? I'm gonna have to go with "no" on this one. And I don't want change, per se. I mostly want acceptance. Accept that I can be as good of a lawyer as a man and receive EQUAL pay. Accept that my driving skills have nothing to do with my ovaries (because they don't, last time I checked). Accept that the idea of domestication is one idea - not the only idea. Accept that a woman can be as smart as man if she works just as hard.

...I really don't have much else to say in this entry, lol. Oh! Actually, I meant to pimp my friend's career. Remember how I mentioned I went to school/was friends with an actor named Reid Ewing? He's had a few successful acting stints (he played Dylan on "Modern Family" and has been casted in Will Arnett and Christina Applegate's new comedy, "Up All Night"). Most recently, he's been in the movie Fright Night - with Colin Firth as a vampire neighbor - that came out a week or so ago. I basically just wanted to pimp out IMDB page and squee about how I know this kid. He's pretty freaking awesome.

Writer's Block: It’s Women’s Equality Day!

Absolutely not! In some ways it benefits us, but in most, it does not. I am absolutely shocked each and every time that I see a man berating a woman, often a complete stranger, in a way that he would never treat a man. There is a complete lack of respect for women in general in many men, which leads to a vicious cycle of women not liking them, they get enraged and take it out on the women, who in turn don't lie the men...etc.

I am not explaining that one well.

I work in a male dominate field and I see a LOT of discrimination. Most woman make less then men. I can't really say about promotion parity. Thankfully, I work in a place which tried very hard across the board for equality.

But y'know, man and women are NOT equal. One is not superior to the other, but we are deffo different!

Touchy subjuct, I think...

Ecks Oh!
Sad Adam

Writer's Block: It’s Women’s Equality Day!

Do you think women are treated as equals? What changes would you like to see?

No. I wish we could ignore the fact that one of the noticeable differences between when and women is our genitals. Besides the annoyances of being either gender, physical differences being unable to change naturally, (girls can be stronger and just as strong as men, whether they work out or not, it's kind of genetic as well as effort). I don't think either are treated equal, we're treated differently. I think we should understand and accept differences that are present in genders, but recognize some of those differences are individual and are being generalized.

What would I like to see? I don't know. You can't see women getting equal pay.

It's the individuals of society that altogether make women treated as equals or not. Some guys try as best as they can to treat gals as equals and gals trying to treat guys as equals. I like my religion saying to cherish and respect woman and vice versa. I don't blame all guys for lack of unequal right, I blame some individuals of both genders that women don't get equal rights or treatment.

But, I'd like us not to be sex objects. I'm sorry, but there's a difference between admiring artistic physical differences between people and genders, and down right just thinking that having them means "I want sexual harassment, yeah, talking to you, being friendly, and wearing shorts and a tank top means I want sex..." Guys can do it and they don't have to worry about it, sorry but from MY experience they don't. I don't know about others...

Of course not.

No matter how you look at it, one must realize that women have entered a long-history of oppression, so it stands to reason that we have a long way to go in terms of equality.

In some countries in the Middle East, it is still seen as a taboo for a woman to drive. Women were confined to a limited role in the recent Egyptian revolution. The Catholic Church still bars women from becoming priests. In Mexico, women are actually one the most viable targets for exploitative factory-based corporations. And no matter how much China sugar coats it; their long-standing culture of gender stratification still remains.

Downplaying this and looking at just Western society, I suppose things have gotten better, but I don't quite think it's enough. Feminism is still seen as a "joke-major" in my school if that tells you anything. Almost all of the hip-hop music I hear on the radio these days, I feel, perpetuates women as an object of sex.

I recall hearing something along the lines of this- if we truly value democracy in the world, and roughly half of the world is comprised of women, then how can you have democracy with half of the world neglected?
