Writer's Block: Blast to the past

For god's sakes, do pre-law at University and go to law school so you can make a proper living in future! But if you choose not to, don't turn down Dr. Schultheiss' offer to help you bypass the Master's program and go directly to the Doctoral program at USC, even if you can't afford it and your parents can't help you.. Do whatever you have to do to get that doctorate! That way at least you can teach film and again, have a real career!!!
If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?
I'd take the little blighter into the mountains and train him in the deadliest arts. Swordsmanship, intrigue, diplomacy, morality, and most importantly, how to be a man. Then I'd use the time technology I apparently possessed and return him from whence he came.

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?

I would tell myself to be strong, never be afraid to be yourself and love yourself. Don't be afraid of loving anyone, no matter what, and take chances. Also, be nice to our mother, she's more amazing than we could ever imagine. And, lastly, tell our father you love him more.

It's not your responsibility to take care of anyone else. You can't stop what is inevitable. Show them you care by loving yourself. Don't give if you get nothing in return. The satisfaction of caring for someone else isn't enough to sustain you in the long term.

Love yourself. (I love you.) It'll make what is coming so much easier to handle, if it's possible to do at all.

In a year, this Hoover kid is going to throw rocks at you and Lindsey. You're going to deck him in the cheek in front of his friends. Don't hold back. Make it a punch worthy of the fuss it'll cause or you'll regret going easy on him.

Avoid the Ft. Campbell library after sixth grade. You're going to run into Ryan Browning there. Trust me. You don't wanna.

In about tenth or eleventh grade, you're going to make a goal to not die until you've seen all of RoV. Come up with better goals. You get all of RoV five years later.

Do something extra special for Mother's Day every year. Might make up for some of the trouble you'll cause her.

You'll fail Calculus with a lovely 12. Don't worry. Instead of paying attention in class, you'll create write lots of stories about Yrouel, Sandal, Leilah, and Israfel; characters who will stay with you. On all the tests, you'll refine your artistic ability and you will not regret it.

Last but not least, keep on keeping on. Don't forget to be awesome at that.

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?
Time travel is always a difficult thing to think of.  Traveling back in time is always the hardest, I believe, especially when it concerns seeing your younger self.
On that note if I were to go back and see my ten year old self, I think I'd tell me not to stop playing.  When the time comes to go to college, fuck what everybody else says, fuck how much the cost is, just go.  Go to that fancy dancy school and don't hide anything from anyone.  It's not important what anyone else thinks, if you're happy then what the world says doesn't matter.  Don't let anyone tell you you're less than what you really are.
Also, don't have sex with J when you're 16 and you've come home from a parade and you're upset.  It'll be all you think about for the next two years.
But mostly, don't be afraid of what's outside.

Writer's Block: Love to hate

I love Scar from the Lion King.  He is my favorite villain of all time!  I also love The Master from Doctor Who, Moriarty from Sherlcock (The BBC series), and George Foyet/The Reaper from Criminal Minds.

Scar has always been my favorite character from The Lion King.  My love for singing along to Be Prepared was only eclipsed by my love for singing along to I Just Can't Wait To Be King (and that was more because of Zazu's line directly afterward "Excuse me madam, but Get! Off!").

The Master.  How can you not love The Master?  Not to mention, every once in a while, I find my hand has been tapping out the drumbeat for the past few minutes.  Bum-bum-bum-bum.  Bum-bum-bum-bum.  Bum-bum-bum-bum.  Creepy.  But Awesome!

Moriarty.  "I gave you my number.  I thought you might call." Collapse )
And finally, The Reaper.  I'm not actually sure why I like him.  Maybe I've gotten addicted to Main Character Angst from watching Supernatural, but The Reaper episodes, particuarly 100, are the only ones I like to watch when repeats come on TV.

Writer's Block: The state of perception

I'd give up my sense of smell.  My nose is almost constantly stuffed up and I can't smell anything anyway.  Although, this is more because I'd rather keep all the others.

I trip badly enough while being able to see.  Not to mention, I'd have to learn braille if I ever wanted to read again.  If I can't touch, how am I supposed to know if I get hurt?  Other than knowing the hotplate is, well - hot, how am I supposed to know it hurts if I don't feel it burning.  Taste, I wouldn't give up soley because of chocolate.  I would give up all my other senses, just to be able to keep tasting chocolate.  And Hearing, as bad as mine is, I wouldn't give it up, because then how would I know my brother was trying to sneak up on me?
Of the five senses (sight, sound, touch, smell and taste), which would you willing to give up, and why?

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?

To enjoy it while you can.
To write down what I was feeling, to not censor myself when no one else would read what I wrote, to not get involved in petty fights my friend's have, that the company of a good back and music is all that I need. To tell my father every day that I love him, and to thank my mother every day for being so strong for me. To grieve openly whenever it was needed. That I can do anything I want to, parents be damned I am smart and strong and so fucking resourceful. To live. For myself and no one else. To not lie. And to protect those that matter to me, they aren't as sturdy as you are.

I wish I could say I would tell them all of that. What would come out is...
"Your parent's are gonna be seperated once your first fall semster of college starts, you'll lie to everyone say that your going to CSM but you'll hide out at Barnes & Noble so you can have a few brief moments of time with your mom while she works. The following January, your dad's going to make a trip to Las Vegas and you will never see him alive again. You'll thank a god you don't believe every day for three years that the last conversation you had with him was a good happy one. The first thing you'll think when you see him in some hospitol in Barstow will be, "You were a good man Charlie Brown" and you won't ever be able to pick up the comics from the newspaper again without feeling cheated. You will have to protect your mom from your hateful family, she will always be there for you... they will not. You will met a boy at work and he will save you from yourself. And even if things get bad his love is what will keep you alive. Out of all your friends Joey will be the one that counts, not Greg or Mike, Crazy Joey. Don't hate Veronica just to spite her, she gave your mom an out, she will be the one to hold onto you when it feels like your world is crumbling down on you. Join Choir and listen, actually listen to music you connect with it better then you think. Love freely and live. Just live and don't be afraid to ask for help when the darkness falls in on you."

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?

I would tell my 10 year old self to have stuck with soccer and karate no matter what. That even though I wasn't surrounded by kids that I shouldn't be depressed. That walking across the highway wasn't that bad if I was careful to go exploring the surrounding subdivisions to find playmates (even if we didn't end up attending the same school). That keeping fit would pay off for the future instead of worrying about my weight in high school and letting it affect my self-confidence.

I would have told my 10 year old self to have studied math better. That I have an aptitude for it but allowed myself to develop 'holes' in my knowledge that sometimes gives me fits when trying to go through more complex problems.

I would have said to be more open to more people. That while I had good friends I could have been a better friend to them. That while its sometimes scary to go to someone's house or out with a group you don't know well they aren't going to hurt you and the worse thing that could happen is that your bored.

I want to say I would have told my younger self about the heartache I would endure in a few years. Warn myself about the problems my parents would have. Told myself to hold on tight and cherish what happy memories I do have. To have been close to both parents but more open to my mom at an early age.

I would definitely tell my 10 year old self to be more appreciative to everything my mom did for me. To learn how to clean up after myself and how to cook. To clean and take care of the house like she does. To be there for her and to watch out for her and her health. If things had happened when I was younger I think my mom would have been in a better place today.

It doesn't get better...just different.

Now that Christmas work is out of the way, I feel stagnant. I've done a few little things and poked at a few old things, but I haven't done anything I'm super happy with. other than this:

And it was a quick project. Started and completed in a 24 hour span. But it cracked me up, I had to make it. I think I gotta add a little loop to it. I won't be using it anytime soon, but it was a fun knit and I'll save it for awhile.

"Always remember this, that you are a good person and that you really do care about people even if you don't believe yourself. You're not in trouble, and everything will always be okay."

Writer's Block: You’re perfect, now change

Would you change anything about your significant other? What would it be?
Would I change anything about my boy?

I'd like to be able to say no, and that everything is perfect, but not quite. :P
There's only one major concern of mine, and that's the small fact that a lot of the time, he makes me feel like he doesn't have enough time for me.
Five, six, seven hours... sometimes more... I'll have asked him a somewhat important question, or merely wondering if he's okay, and he will be so distracted for these HUGE periods of time that I won't hear from him at all. Not a word.

Granted, a lot of the time, he's at work and work gets busy.
But not even thirty seconds for a "Hey, sorry I can't talk, things are crazy, I'm ok. xo" text would be more than enough.

I told him it bothers me, he said he's gonna change.
I really hope it does change, but I'd still rather deal with the hurt and worry than let him go if it doesn't end up changing after all.

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your 10-year-old self?

I would say to myself: "In about 5 years, it will occur to you that cutting yourself might be some sort of solution.  DON'T DO IT.  Reach out for help, somehow, but DO NOT START CUTTING YOURSELF.  You don't want to go through your life with horrible scars, no matter what you are feeling about it for the next few years.  Trust 30 year old Kelly, and do NOT start self-harming.  It isn't worth it, not at all."

"It's not just that you're a discipline problem, that you're unable to follow orders, or that you're a screw-up. Your problems go deeper than they suspect. There's something seriously wrong with your mind, and they may not figure out what it is for a while yet.

"They might find out part of it soon - I forget when they diagnosed me. But when it comes, ask to be tested thoroughly, and not just for whatever they want to test you for. The earlier they find the deeper problems, the better off we'll both be.

"Oh, and when you go in for the testing... write down the names of who did it. In about fourteen years, when you're trying to get insured, you're really, really going to wish you remembered."

Don't pity your mother as much. You are not her mother and this is not your burden. And don't lend her money.

You're going to meet a way better Dad in a few years. Try not to hate him too much at first.

Don't be afraid of going to Hungary for a year. It's life changing for you.

For God's sake go to college and don't wait until your older -- all those big dreams of PhDs and Cornell? Keep that drive, honey.

When Daniel hits you, hit him right back. I would say don't marry him at all but you will get the most incredible child from this short lived union, and I think without that little boy in your life you may not have enough purpose to get through your early 20s.

Let the good things in. Not everyone in this world is monstrous. In fact, some people are going to amaze and humble you.

Be strong. Be brave. Keep moving forward.

It gets better.

As much crap as they put me through, my rabbits. And I say that because when no one's online (or when I'm lacking internet and phone by extension), I can just get one of them out and watch and cuddle and cry on one or two of them...and they are cards when you talk to them. Then again, when you have rabbits that recognize music and movies and specific songs and scenes that they love as much as you do, things get hilarious.

Three things:

1. Don't go to the hospital with Jami. (This one is huge. So huge it altered my entire life, it would be interesting to see what would have played out had I not gone that day. I can't think about how things would be. The following two aren't like this one.)

2. Don't have sex with Art. It will put things in motion you can't stop and it doesn't have to happen.

3. Don't love Jon, that too will put greater things in motion that will last over a decade. Though, it's damned attractive, it's not going to be worth it. He will leave you to marry some one else.

shut the fuck up, stop being such a sore loser & spoiled brat. you need to start showing your mom & brother affection because your mother is going to end up not being able to show it and in seven years your brother is going to be dead- maybe he wouldn't be now if you showed him love. stop being such a bitch and realize that that is not the way to handle things. know that you're gonna go through a lot of hurt and heartache but that it won't last forever. now go tell your brother you love him, bitch.

Writer's Block: The state of perception

Out of the 5 senses, I think I'd feel most comfortable giving up "taste". Granted, it would be a huge bummer to not taste anything ever again, but I'd rather hear things, see beautiful sights, smell bonfires, and be able to feel the fur of my  dog.
