Writer's Block: Santa Claus is coming to town

At what age did you stop believing in Santa?
At six years old I stopped believing in Santa because my mom pulled me aside and explained that he didn't exist.  It sort of ruined the magic.  My mom said she told me because I was always asking questions.  My sister believed in Santa until she was 11 years old.  Every Christmas I would ask my mom if I could reveal the truth to Suzanne, but she said no u_u  Eventually a friend of Suzanne's told her and ruined it for her <STRIKE>me</STRIKE>.

Anyway, since my sister believed and I didn't, I had to pretend every year that Santa existed.  One year she was convinced that she heard reindeer on the roof, and I played along telling her I heard it too.  I know, I'm a great sister XD

I have no idea.

Pretty young. I'm sure I figured it out for myself. I don't recall anyone telling me, which I would have if it occurred after the age of 7 or 8. I did keep it secret for quite some time as I have a brother three years younger than me and a sister six years younger than me so I became a conspirator in the Santa Secret.

Are you on Santa’s nice or naughty list?

I must've been very nice as a big and heavy package from deviltrap is waiting to be opened tomorrow. And today, I got another little package. I have yet to find out from who it is. *g*

And I don't want to go all mushy on you, but I think I've been very nice when I got a flist like you! ♥

Writer's Block: It’s the first day of winter

I love winter time for so many different reasons:
  • The feeling of cool air swirling around you as you step outside your door in the early morning.
  • The way people are so much more cheerful and in the holiday spirit.
  • How kids are so excited and cant wipe the smile off their little faces.
  • Everything just seems so magical and amazing.
  • I love giving gifts during Christmas and having the New Year bring along so many surprises.

At what age did I stop believing in Santa? I still believe in Santa and I'm 29 years old. Why do I still believe? When I was 10 years old I got horribly sick on Christmas day. I had a fever and was vomiting out everything that I consumed. I was taken to the nearby Emergency Room. The nurse that was caring for me that day was a large older gentleman with white hair and a long white beard. He was wearing RED scrubs. My nurse was Santa. He'd finished delivering toys and was working in an Emergency Department to help sick kids. My condition deteriorated, I was in need of medication but it couldn't be given orally. IV wasn't an option because I was so badly dehydrated they were having problems getting a large enough line in to give fluids let alone medication. They only other option they had was suppository. The large pill was brought in by Santa and he pulled on the rubber gloves. "Roll over onto your side and lean forward. This won't hurt." I know he continues to visit my home every year, and he bring a box of rubber gloves just in case.

At what age did you stop believing in Santa?
I stopped believing in Santa when I was 9 years old. My friend who came over around Christmas spoiled it for me by explaining how he caught his parents putting presents with tags that had santa's name under the tree, then how he saw them messing with the cookies and milk he left out. Thanks to him, it was never the same again -____-

At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

I don't know. Maybe before 6? I know I was really little. I don't quite remember ever really believing in him. My mom did tell me that I stopped believing when I was a little girl after I left cookies for Santa in the oven (because we didn't want insects to get on them or anything and for them to stay warm) and I came back later that night and saw my father eating the cookies. Then I stopped believing.

I think I also really stopped believing one time when we were really poor and me and my brother could only afford one toy. I bought some My Little Pony light up purple pony. It wasn't what I really wanted, but it was all my parents could afford that year and we had to buy it at Walgreen's. I believed that either my parents or Santa would buy me something better. But come Christmas day no new toys. Just the ones from Walgreen's. I was disappointed. I've never forgotten it.

Ok, I'm a dragon, currently seeing a tiger. He's sweet but annoying. Let me list the ways. Oy that would take too long. Hence dragons/ tiger do not a marriage make. He's too impulsive and reads too few books.

At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

I'm honestly not sure. I couldn't have been any older than eight or nine, though. I remember I played along with the idea for a year or two because I had some vague idea that it would disappoint my parents if I stopped believing in Santa Claus. But it didn't take me too awfully long to figure out that Santa's hand writing looked an awful lot like my father's.

Fun fact: When I was little, my idea of Santa Claus was largely shaped by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Father Christmas Letters, which my parents checked out of the library and read to me every year for a few years. Sorry, guys, but in my childhood mythology, Clement Moore just couldn't hold a candle to Tolkien!

At what age did you stop believing in Santa?
I started very seriously doubting when I was four and I pretended to believe until I was six or seven. I remember having to break the news to my Mum who appeared to have an insane belief in Santa and seemed to rationalize each year why she should believe. I didn't use those exact words in my head. I believed in the Grinch more than Santa...

At what age did you stop believing in Santa?
About 10 or 11.
The thing is that everyone told that my parents were Santa but I didn't believe them because I never caught them doing it.  Back then, when I am sleep, I am a brick (pretty much out of it).  So yeah, I never really get to "see Santa". My parents kept up with that tradition until I was 15 though (because I still never caught them bringing in the gifts).  I am a light sleeper now.

Writer's Block: Santa Claus is coming to town

i'm honestly not really sure, probably when i realized that santa's handwriting matched my mothers or that one years tags were the same from the ones he used last year or a strange combination of the two, but i know i was happy about it , because when i was little i was so shy santa scared me. the idea that i had to sit on some strange fat guy in red's lap to get my present, seriously freaked me out. i wasn't the real touchy feely type/ and still not.   that, and i had a mini tree in my bedroom, which i never got a present under, i thought that was pretty much bullshit. and i can't really remember but i'm guessing that my brother was a good candidate in the murdering of santa.

Writer's Block: It’s the first day of winter

What do you love about the wintertime?

Livejournal posts a "writer's block" topic each day, and this one asks "what do you love about the wintertime?" This is a great topic, as the first day of winter was a couple days ago.

I love that in winter, the air is cooler and it stays dark longer. I'm not a fan of hot, sunny days. Not a fan at all. It doesn't get really crazy cold down here until January or February, and even then it's not that cold, but it's nice all the same. It sure beats the hot, humid days we get from April through September.

I also love the excitement in the air with everyone preparing for the winter holidays. A lot of people around here go all out decorating their homes with Christmas lights, and I enjoy checking out the results. Some people go all Clark Griswold and put up thousands of lights. It gets pretty crazy. This year I put extra effort into decorating our house inside and outside, since it's our first year having Sierra here with us. Plus, she's turns 18 years old today, so it's our last real chance to do the Christmas decorations up big before she's all grown-up. We even have a "real" tree this year instead of our plastic tree.

Another thing I like about winter is that we eat yummy food and it's perfect weather for cocoa and tea and other hot beverages. I get to bake lots of cookies and pies and all sorts of things.

There are so many great reasons to like winter! I would say it's my favorite season of all.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Tonight is Santa's big night. Leave some cookies out for him, eh?

What do you love about the wintertime?

The snow and the cold. I hate being hot, because you're kind of stuck. Since Ken doesn't like the AC down where I like it. xP So when you're hot, all you can do is get nakey and you still sweat. So it doesn't do much.

While if you're cold, you can put on heavier clothes or get a blanket. You can do something about cold.

And snow is pretty, until it turns to brown mush because of exhaust. Yuck.
